172 Cup gearbox fitted to 182 Cup

I've someone interested in my 172 Cup gearbox - to go in their 182 Cup.

I've read conflicting information, and want to be able to correctly advise the buyer and not sell something not fit for purpose with speedo issues.

I read the following:

A 172 Cup gearbox will fit any mk2 RS 1*2, the sensor can be removed/blocked up. It's the other way around that they aren't compatible as 182 or 172 gearboxes won't have the hole in the gearbox to fit a sensor from the 172 Cup.

Does that sound feasible?

Correct, speedo sender boxes fit all.
