172 cup skittish??

  172 Credit crunch edition
Hi all just wondering if its normal for a cup to be erm well skittish! is the only word i could use to describe it really. When im driving down the road if there are like dips in the road/high points (like the raised white lines etc etc) it seems to move quite a bit on them like side to side??
i had it once before in my 205 gti but i put that down to it being old and knackered any ideas people??

Sounds pretty normal. They can be quite lively. They seem to get worse and tramline more as your tyre tread gets lower.

Don't forget that most roads are in a pretty s**t state this time of year.

Mine was very twitchy at the rear until I got my eibachs on. Much more stable now and for £150ish you can't go wrong imo

Agree with what they said. As the tread comes down they do tramline more and even with new tyres, they are not really suited to this weather...

Mine feels like that too when I go over bumps and things, I think it's normal, my vtr was the same.

drive it sensibly mate and ull be fine. This time of year the roads are covered in grit, salt, mud and all kinds of other crap as well as being damp most of the time so it will be fairly lively.

Yep mines starting to tramline more at the moment coupled with less front end grip in the wet. Think my tyres are on the way out. Thing is they're a fair way off the wear indicators :S (Conti's btw)

Echo comments on taking it easy on the shitty roads at the moment!

yer i get this all the time obviously the weathers not the best but when i pull of my drive then turn hard left as im reversing it just skips as though the whole car skips sideways well annoying, dont even think my tyres are that worn either.

Yup, change tyres once they get to 2mm at the latest. Probably notice by then anyway as you get quite severe tramlining once tread is low.

Mine aint a cup….But mine seems to wander all over the road……Im slightly paranoid though as I think the guy behind me must think I’m pis*ed as it feels like im all over the road.

Ive checked the tyre pressures and levels im about 3m off the wear indicator.

good ! it's not only mine that's like this then !

BIG difference to the 4WD system in the R32  Liking it a lot :D

Chris - Eibachs - which kit are you referring to - have just gone for the Pro-Kit springs which will be combined with some other suspension and alignment alterations. Be interested to hear more thoughts on your setup :approve:

Hmmm....might be time for some new fronts then. Theres around 2mm left on them I think.

Thanks for the tip :)

Can't remember which ones I got (it was the lower of the two) but there is a long sweeping bend joining a dual carriageway near me and b4 it was a bit edge of the seat at speed but now it is 100% better

  fat arctic ! sold yippee!

Took mine out earlier to stretch her legs, as she has sat there for a while, and the whole time it was telling me sub-conciously, put your foot down and i'll bite your head off. I tucked her in and let her be!

Mine has been like this since it was new (182Cup) so I don't think it's just (real ~yawn~) Cups. It's probably just down to the steering geometry. Mine is also worse when the tread is wearing low.
