172 Cup Track Build

  172 Cup
Hi all,

This is my 2nd post, my first being a quick intro in the starter forum.

The car is pretty stock, 65k with induction and full stainless including what I think is a 182 manifold.

Anyway I thought I would post some pics of my first day of tinkering...

The white 182 had potential but it's ruined by the bonnet bra, rear spoiler, mirrors, roof wrap, wind deflectors & the sun strip :(

Looking good :)

I would personally advise fitting a genuine oil filter and also the O.E NGK PFR6E-10 spark plugs

I was looking for which plugs were most suitable, didn't really find too much in the way of preferences for them. I know from running turbo'd motors that they can be a tad more important with heat grades etc. The Bosch's should be Ok tho.
Is there much difference in filters? I plumped for the one Opie recommended with their service pack.

I do like the White on black look. You do have to be careful with it tho and choose your mods wisely,

The OMP subframes lean in towards the transmission tunnel slightly ( I have the same frames). I used some metal spacers (washers) on that side to level it out a bit.

Seems a bit odd tho doesn't it. You would of thought that a company like OMP having designed a specific product for a specific vehicle it would of been spot on!! Unless the cup is slightly different, probably unlikely tho!!

Yep, definitely a no nonsense build. I have literally fitted everything that I deem essential for tracking it. Then just build and tweak as bits arise from here on. Since I had the geo setup at Track Developments it is certainly a different kettle of fish, its probably the single biggest improvement in terms of performance so far! Dave gave me a few pointers with regards to roll centres on the front arms which will have to be addressed at some point, he certainly knows his onions.Clio Setup.jpg Can't fault the yokies on the road, same as the B14's really, altho the Bilsteins may be a tad soft for out and out track use. The only thing I do have an issue with with the suspension is the rear ride height, I've got it on the lowest setting but could still do with another inch (couldn't we all!!) I'm heading to Castle Combe on the 24th for the first official outing, so should have a better idea how it all comes together as a track package then. Hopefully the yokies will last for more than one track day!! :D
