172 engine

Will a 172 engine fit in the back of a clio with the seats down obviously? im thinking of picking one up and need to know if it will fit?

2 strong ones, and a lot of care not to damage any trims on the car its being put into.

delivery is around £50 fon a pallet company.

i read that wrong and thought you wanted to do a rear engine conversion with the seats folded down lol

it took 2 of us to lift a 1.2 16v into the back of a van, that wasnt easy! both of us not the strongest right enough, id say 3 strong to lift it if its got a gearbox on it.

makes it a bit lighter but not by much, still id say 3 people to lift it! especially into a car we were just throwing my engine into a van not a car with trim etc!

can you not hire engine cranes from hire places?

we used an engine crane when putting a williams engine in the back of a williams for transport, made it so much easier!

not sure if you can hire them or not, cant see why not! we took my engine out without one then managed to get one for puting new one back in, it makes the job 20x easyer!!!!

droped engine down and got 3 to LIFT the shell up over engine while 2 dragged it away haha

172 engine is "only" 100kg, but its awkward

it'll drop oil and water inside the car if you lay it flat (which is the easiest pay to pick it up)

is this for your conversion?

yeh well we will have plastic sheeting down and towels etc so it wont matter too much about it leaking.

it hasnt come directly out of a car it has been out of a car for sometime and in a garage as the seller origionally bought this to do a conversion himself

i got a f4r in the boot of my e46 bmw coupe..

big boot, but tiny opening.


i used a engine lift.


when i got to benR his jaw dropped to the floor when he saw where the engine was LOL

I got a Megane 225 lump, complete, with gearbox on in the back of my old 182.

was a case of getting it as close as possible on the crane, then supporting a board under it, dropping it onto the board and sliding the lot in!
