Im rebuilding my front calipers tomorrow and replacing seals, slider pins etc.How do people remove the piston if you dont have compressed air to use to blow the piston out?.can you simply just pull it out with a pair of grips?

I would have thought so, the pistons do protrude about 5 mm so plenty to get a grip on.

If the calipers are still on the car ? You can remove the brake pads and carriers and gently press the brake pedal , the piston will pop out that way . Obviously you're gonna lose some fluid , but you can clamp the hose afterwards.

Caliper off, remove bleed screw & drain, mole grips and a cloth, gently tease piston out. Not sure if that's right or wrong but worked for me and the calipers had been sat in the shed for the last 2 yrs.
