172 import alarm

Right took the plung and ordered my (silver=faster)172 this morning from Autolink, because they could supply the car in a week rather than Reno who told be october. They seemed very proffesional and are even going to deliver the car to by doorstep.

Anyway these cars only come with a CAT2 immobilizer? in the key transponder. Whats the best option to go for CAT1 alarm wise? I rang up Protect car security and the said theyd do a Cobra 2-1 upgrade thing for £269. Does this seem good or should i go for a TOAD at £349?

Open to all options - wish i could electrify the whole car like u can in South Africa, thatll keep the pikeys away!!!!

I guess it all depends on whether you want to alarm to work on the same keyfob? I think the toad you get a seperate fob?

Toad A850i ...... uses the same key fob and upgrades from 2-1.

Mine was about £270 but that was 18months ago.

Toads are good, makesure you get the slimline siren to fit under the bonnet as there isnt much room. I believe they do slimline-battery backup jobbies....you could have the fullsize one fitted in the car under the dashboard as an extra option
