Just been down camberely auto factors & picked up an oil filter for my 172, looks identical to the eye & was the one on the sytem so hopefully will be a straight swap.. but before i do the oil change just thought i would ask, is it normally okay to use after market oil filters or would you guys say stick with the original? only reason i havent got the original is renault are a good 35-40 mile round trip from me which would be another £5+ in fuel on top of sitting in traffic & havin to put up with the "helpfull" renault staff :dapprove:

I've known of oil pressure problems with some aftermarket oil filters.

I think Ktec and Yozzasport sell them in pairs on the websites.

You can get proper ones from renault for £6 iirc for the last one I had. Not worth using pattern ones when you can get gen ones for little cost.

Quality can depend on the brand. As long as it's not an uber pikey one it should be ok. I've known some non genuine filters to lack non return valves which results in low oil pressure for a few seconds on startup as the filter fills up.

That cant be good, looks to be a gooden though, used the same make on my 1.2 with no probs for the last 8k, was £5.50, its not that i dont want to pay an extra 50p for the renault one its just i would like to avoid driving all the way to the dealer

Yeah it added a tenner on postage when I did this too last week. I simply emailed them saying 10 pounds postage was very excessive, and they allowed me to just pay the 8 pounds via paypal and add it to my existing order. Obviously there shopping cart is not great at calculating shipping.

Saying that im still yet to recieve my items....so cant comment yet on yozza.
