Well, heres the story...
Took it for the wheel bearing, they rang and said he needed new disks and pads all round as they were very worn.
He then points out that he had a service/MOT less than 600 miles ago and Rears were 40% worn, Fronts 70%. At this point they said well thy are worn do you want them done. My old man being as he is, said yeah if they need doing do them.
Gets home and checks all the documentation and it clearly says the rears are only 40% worn. Confronts the Sevice manager today and they gave him the following excuse.....
The wheel bearing and Brake discs are one single part and you cannot replace the wheel bearing without new discs. As we are using new discs, we must use new pads.
Is this correct, and if so, why say the rear discs were very worn, why not just say that as the wheel bearing was gone it is part of the disc??
