172 reps/colour coding

got a 1.2 expression and was thinking about the bump strips on the side, front and back.
when people make the 172 reps do they paint the original black side strips or buy ones off 172s and paint them.
The original black ones from the 1.2/1.4 seem to have a different feel of plastic so was unsure whether these could be painted.

anybody got ideas?

you can buy to types, one has a smoother finishs on it so they can be painted but if you get the other ones you will need to do a lot of sanding with wet and dry to get them smooth

right thought so, the one on my 1.2 is quite corse.
so i guess buying a smooth 172 side strip would be wiser.

up to you i know they are over 100 quid from renault and the silver bits are like 20 quid each i think, plus make sure they will fit before you buy them

just sand them and use high build 2k primer, no need to sand them down to smooth pre-primer
