172 steering problem

havent had my 172 long but have noticed there is a slight knock coming from the front passenger side and also ive noticed when i turn right at speed it doesnt seem to respond then suddenly it goes off to the right.
or if am driving on country roads and hit uneven surface it seems to jerk to the right.
anyone got any ideas before i go to a garage.

Possible strut top mount? also another easy thing to do is jack the front wheels up and go side to side and top and bottom.
