Need a new exhaust system for the car (cat back) K tec are bring out a 182 style exhaust for the 172 which i really fancy but have heard about a few fitting issues with k tec systems. If its a stealth its ok cos no one sees it! Does anyone know of anyone who can fit a twin tail pipe 182 look alike to a 172 and get it to line up correctley?

Any custom place should be able to knock you one up.

A amte at work had one made for his mk1 172, coupled with a standard 182 rear bumper it looked pretty smart :)

The exhaust was made by a friend of the person who I bought the car off, so is a completely custom-jobby... but, it is worked around the spare wheel and is just cat-back (I think). Definitely do-able, I'm just not sure by who!

Oh, and it's really well fitted. The only slight issue is that the left side sticks out a litle bit further than the right one, do to the angle of fitting because of the spare. Barely noticable though.

Hey, that looks really good looks like I will have to keep searching for a local pipe bender! I could go for the k tec system but then if it dont fit you get the fitter saying its the exhaust and the manufacturer saying its the fitter. I would rather go with someone who can make one and fit it.

Yeah, it would be good to find someone that can make and fit it to avoid any problems.

Mine works kind of like this:

Where one pipe from the backbox runs across the top of both pipes that you see from the rear of the car. There is then a hole in the top of each of these pipes that connects the two you see to the main one running from the backbox, for the gases to pass through. So the back of the two pipes is just a dead-end.

I guess doing it this way obviously inhibits performance a bit but it also saves space.
