i can get a 182 imported non-cup packs for £11,300 and considering this is as expensive as some 2nd hand 172/182s with a few thou on the clock it seems stupid to buy a "nearly new" 182. Any1 esle know of somewhere i can get one for less that 11.3k doubt it but just wondering let me know.

However i just cant decide between 2nd hand 2yr old cup for 9k(172), brand new 182 for 11.5 ish or a williams for 3.5k. please help its doin me head in, any opinions welcome. 182 would proper skint me (no finance required tho) 172 would leave ample cash left an williams would leave loads left. scared of buying a williams an wishing i got a newer car.

Ive owned a mint Williams and have recently picked up a Ph2 172. Theyre actually quite similar cars behind the wheel in terms of character, but obviously the 172 has a lot more toys and seems as if itll wear the miles better (cosmetically at least).

Owning a Williams was a real pleasure, but you have to be prepared to look after it (just as with any older car). There are quite a few issues to do with age, such as rusty arches and general wear and tear that will almost certainly not crop up with a 172 or 182, being newer cars.

I looked into getting a 182, but the Ph2 172 is very close in terms of obvious spec and - although some highly discerning people may disagree - performance and driving sensation. I couldnt justify spending another £5,000+ to get myself a brand new one.
