182 exhaust and knock fix pics (56k)

Right seeing as both of these seem to be very common faults (f*****g pathetic if you ask me) and a few people have been asking for pictures or exactly what was done heres a few pictures of the engine mount repair. The mount has been squared up and they have used some white goo on it!! Probably the same stuff they used on the exhaust in the pics lower down.

Yeah, its new. See the high quality join near the rear and you can see how shinny the pipework is.

Thats Renault repairs at there best!!

Even the RTE agreed when I said it was crap that they had to cut the original and replace sections that way, when it could have been made that way in the first place. Apparently it was a pig to cut.

I slackened the centre bolt to adjust the bracket with the rubber things on it so it was square then tightened it up. Then i slackened the 4 surrounding bolts to adjust the black metal square bracket so there was an evenish gap at each side of the rubbers. If that makes sence, not a hard job, takes 5 mins. Dont know if its cured yet though.

That bracket in the middle held by the centre bolt is part of the engine so how did you move it to make it square? Or am I missing something? Surely only the black surround can be moved?

white on exhaust = exhaust assembly paste they will have used this to ensure no blowing on the joints, probably more of a precation than anything. the white on the mount looks like a teflon based grease just there to stop any noises from parts of the mount making contact or rubbing against each other.

I can confirm after my drive to work this morning that the car didnt knock once, the exhaust didnt rattle once and the whole rattled less since removing the engine cover. I had no idea how much that rattled until I opened the bonnnet the other night and gave it a few revs.

There is a fair amount of goo on mine, but it did the trick so Im happy.

I gave the car a bit of stick this morning and nothing vibrated or rattled other than the dash and the b2. The last time it was like that was the day I collected it!!
