182 exhaust exhausted

I need to fit new boxes, what are the alternatives?

Looks like the OEM part will be more expensive than a complete cat back stainless system.

The Scorpion system looks OK and at resonable cost, anyone have one fitted? is there less ground clearance? - as these appear to be oval boxes compared to the rectangular affairs of the factory fitment.

Any other sensible alternatives, note 'sensible' - I dont want some bodged meccano system.

I would like to keep the car as standard as possible e.g. at least twin boxes.

N.B. My boy racer days are more than 40 years ago! so I don't need 'noise' anymore - i like a quieter life these days.

Some adult replies please.

General consensus is that the Scorpion RS 192 or KTEC/Janspeed sport (i.e. The Janspeed with the silenced centre section) are regarded as two of the quieter systems, without going down the custom route where you can pick the exhaust note.

Ground clearance shouldn't be an issue on either as far as I am aware. From the 182's I've seen the cat seems to be the lowest part of the system, rather than the rear boxes (also rear boxes are right on the rear axle, so unless your planning on driving over any small pillars, I'd assume the wheels should get you over most speed bumps etc...)

I bought the Janspeed with center section as i was told it was the quietest system out there.

Granted it is very quiet, but still sounds nice when you give it a few beans. I think if you want really quiet, get one custom made. Tell them you need more baffles to deaden out the sound and they will do all that.

Thanks for the replies guys

Had a look at the Janspeed for 182 , but I see only single box with twin tails

Lots of speed ramps and blobs in my district!

Look forward to some more comments

What about Yozza, I believe theres a man on here that makes and fits them! Meant to be one of the best after reading some reviews!

^ Erm....

Janspeed does have single box (sorry I missed the bit about wanting to retain twin boxes) but it is fairly quiet, but has a bit of grunt at the top end...

Not sure if you've youtubed them (scunny182 on here I believe)

and RS192

The only other twin box off the top of my head is the milltec

mines an scorpion rs 192 system, quiet when i want it to be, but a nice bark when you use the throttle, only downside is the fitment, basically it doesnt fit too well! once its fitted correctly you wouldnt regret it. general consensus on here is to get the yozza

go and phone up renault for a laugh! ;) my local stealer wanted £800 for a mild steel cat back all in!! I popped down to k-tec 2 days ago and had the janspeed cat back fitted. It sounds great, most of the time, it doesnt sound any different from standard to be honest, i.e. cruising on the motorway/driving in town etc... but as said above, when you give it some it has a really nice smooth note without any hint of 'chav'. It sounds like the 182 should have sounded like when it left the factory!

Thanks for all the replies

Still undecided, the Scorpion RS192 looks a good buy and stainless, but have also heard it does not fit well, but wonder in what areas does it not fit?.

All other alternatives I have looked at do not seem to fit the bill, either cost or design (or both)

Still looking for more input on this - for me it's a big expenditure - I used to buy complete cars for this sort of money!

the hangers arent a perfect fit and have to be heated and bent to sit correctly, done mine ok though

I personally have the RS192 and don't know what all the fuss is about, Mine went on first time, no heating, no bending anything, and it sits PERFECT.

I spoke to a few people on here, one who had a problem with fitment, he rang scorpion and they fitted it for free at there HQ.

Everyone on here will say get a Yozza, but IMHO there waaayy too loud. They do fit perfectly though, and the quality is probably the best you can get. I think Fred will put an extra box on if you want a quiet one??

I had a miltek previously and it was the worst fitment and quality I have ever seen, although the sound was perfect.
