Or even better as anyone got any pics on wheres the best location to jack from dont want to be damaging anything:headno:

Thanks guys

For jackin I usually just use the normal points on the sill, but be a bit careful make sure it's on the thick parts.

so is it ok to jack on the normal jacking points with a trolly jack? as i dont really fancy using the standard reno 1 as seems a little dodgy.

This picture should give you an idea.
Jack on the bit in red if your colour blind I've arrowed it in yellow as well. Don't jack and further forwards (marked in light blue) as thi is where the chassic bends back up and the jack could come off.
Have a look under the front of the car by where the hinger are and you'll see where the picture shows. You could use the sill at the front but make sure you have a bar etc so you spread the weight out more else you will find yourself bending the sills.

At the back this picture should give you an idea its a mk1 but similar bits are on the Mk2 the cars weight little at the back so i jack on the normal jacking point and then put the axle stands on the suspesnion arms. You can jack on either of the two red bits or if you can jack on the sill (shown as the red line) since the cars so light at the back you cna use the sill.

Albeit I did mine on a 2005 Dynamique it should be the same chassis, the pictures below show where I put the axel stands and where I jacked it using a trolly jack.

You can do but its not recomended I'd never do it use the chassic rails pictured above use a bit or wood to spread the load if you need.

Managed to get the fronts done the other day but doing the back now....Just to make sure is it ok to jack the car with a trolly jack on the sills at the back? I did the fronts using the rails as show in TELFORDS_LURK's post but on a 182 theres no rails at the back..Just want to make sure and not damage anything..Thanks

i also wanna no where to stick the axle stands at the back so i can change my suspension and paint my brakes.

If this is the pic you are reffering to, it is actually the front of the car with the front wheels off. The picture was taken with me lying on the floor just infront of the rear left wheel.

I too have yet to jack at the back. Will be doing it soon though to paint my drums so i shall take more pictures.

Rear is never a problem as there isnt enough weight (unless you've got Jo brand sat in the boot while you are jacking it up) over the rear to f**k the sills.

  yep.
this one interests me [makavelli btw]

i'm guessing we have the same problem in that with lowered cars trolley jacks wont slide under. i can get to this point too so is it ok?

2 front jacking points on the sills are very weak.i used 2 trolley jacks when changing the oil.bent the jacking point right under.:( ,managed 2 bent them back though with a pair of grips.:)

I use the sils a long piece of 4 x 2 the length of the sil and stick a ramp underneath the board long ways both sides. solid.

lol, well I've used trolley jacks on the sills all round and the rear passenger side bent! I normally jack the front using the rails shown in telford lurks pic and axle stands the same. However when jacking the rear I use the sill, but it hasn't actually been answered in this thread yet...where is best to put axle stands to support the rear? Try describing to me but pics would be a bonus too.

jack as far back as possible towards the rear wheel and slip the axle stand the other side of the jack
