182 Lower Engine Mounts: Woohoo!

  Clio 197
Yup... they're from K-tec.

I'll post results (bear in mind, I've sorted the engine hanger - and so this should finish-it-off)....

... oooh, and my clutch cable is being re-adjusted too, which might add to some improvements.

Nope... you're doing it (I'm not even going to try - I don't have the right tools).

I guess you'll find it easy peasy alex?

:p only jokin! where is the adjustment on the cable, are you doing it to move the biting point? mine is RIGHT at the top, which is annoying in stop/start traffic

Well... there's a LOT of play in the pedal... and gears don't exactly engage properly *clunk crunch*...

... so I want to change gears in a normal sort of way (like it's meant to work from factory).

PS that's another job for you alex ? pretty please?

i have some of them powerflex lower engine mounts and its worse now need to get it on a ramp to investigate

that engine mount will cause you nothing but trouble omar, i fitted one to my 172 cup and the only word i can describe the noise you get once fitted is painful, if i was you i would stick to buying the genuine mount from renault

Fitted mine no problem is better than the original. I would suggest you fitted it incorrectly as there are a few easy mistakes.

The big bush mounting hole - must use the bottom one of the two.

Front bush must have the larger one on top then the smaller on underneath.

Tighten properly - or it WILL come loose.

I would tend to agree, I made an uprated one with uprated rubber bushes no air gaps as per Reno. I took it off within a week as it was too much of a ballache due to the increased noise and vibration.
I can only guess Reno made theirs that way for a very good reason.

mine was fitted correctly, the trouble is the 172 engine is designed to move under load and the uprated one didnt allow so much movement hence vibration and noise

evogone im glad ures is ok i can only say you got a good one cause the mount that bolts to the gearbox was over 3mm shorter than the oe renault one which i think dropped the engine slightly and caused my manifold to knock

I'll give a verdict tomorrow evening... after I've had a chance to give her a good seeing to...

In the meantime... fingers crossed!! (anyone here got big fingers?).

Oms.

Ok chaps... it's been fitted:

1) Gear change & throttle response had been sharpened - the car feels connected to the engine/box a bit more.

I can feel that there's much less slack, when on/off the accelerator. The gearknob has little/no movement when on/off the accelerator.

The car essentially feels more like when it was new.

2) The only extra noise I get is at idle - vibration/booming that comes and goes.

There's no real noticable difference in noise/vibration levels when moving (I checked over a range of speeds).

i fited this mod to my 172 and within a week i was in the parts department ordering the original part.I phoned k tec and told them the bushes where kack. They told me to send them back and they'll look into the problem and they reckon that no one has had any problems with any of the 15 sets they sell a week.
In my opinion i think the bushes are softer than the originals

  Clio 197
They're much harder!!

Try giving your bushes a squeeze (lol, you know what I mean).

I've found them to be a good improvement... only there's a tad more vibration on idle.

k-tec now are selling stiffer versions of these bushes - had mine fiyyed - would say the same as omar - bit of vibration at idle but gear knob now stays pretty still when lifting off. Not sure if it has solved the knocking sound when wheel spinning yet.
