182 running rough from cold

  182 Full Fat
As above, I know the 182 is a rough starter for the first minute or so, but mine seems to have got worse. I can hear the unburnt fuel popping out of the exhausts, and when I lightly accelerate, it holds back. Just wondered if everyone elses 172/182's sound act like this?

Also I have checked the oil out of interest and its down to 4 dahes out of 6 of the dashboard. Think i will give it a little top up to keep it happy!! ;)

mine has been like this since i got it at 1yr old with 6k on clock, runs like a dog when cold, pops, pings and feels like a missfire when u try to accelerate. After about a minute its fine, been meaning to mention it and drop into dealer but cant be ars*d to be honest.

Its similar to owning an older car that missfires when its damp / raining / cold due to knackered leads / dizzy cap...

Mine does that too.

It NEVER was like that when new...

...now that it's got a few miles on it, it's extremely rough for the first few minutes.

I'm having my plugs changed @ 48k (despite renault recommending then being changed at 72k), and I'll post-up any differences.

For the first minute my Mk2 172's a little rough, [nothing strange there] but the other day she just cut out on me.

Shes now on 53,400 miles so not far from her 54K service, hopefully that will sort her out

I also agree with thedoc i find that when i use optimax she runs better when cold.

I have just changed and put optimax in after using the Tesco 99 fuel, maybe its the slight change in Super Unleaded petrol that its adjusting to. I also have an induction kit fitted which probably encourages it to drink even more petrol! Just leaving work now, so will see what shes like in half an hour!!

Could someone please clarify running rough?

When i'm driving my 172 for the first few minutes i only change up to 5th at like 35mph so not to cause any strain but if i'm in 4th doing around 30mph the car trys to like surge forward even though i'm not accelerating... normal?

That sounds normal to me, i think it's something to do with the closed fuel loop management.

Mine starts first time every time, but for the first mile or so coughs, hesitates & generally runs crap, then suddenly it seems to go from 25hp to 172hp wierd................

Mines a bit rough from cold, but I always try a let it warm up 5/10 mins of a morning before I go out.

Yep, mine is the same. Shes just a year old and has 5500 on the clock, feels like shes pulling back and not much power even when warm. When you give her some she sounds like s**t and you get alot of engine vibration through the gear stick.

Anyway, she's booked in 2mrw for an oil change. I'll let u know if it sorts it, if not shes going to reno!

This mornings start seemed much better. I just feather the accellerator, and when it starts to hold back, I change gear at low revs and slowly bring the clutch up, otherwise you get the kangeroo jump forward! Know what I mean?
I think the reason for the car running a bit rougher recently is because I have changed fuels from tesco 99 to optimax.

I have the same thing. It must be normal, feels like its holding back then surges a little bit. after about 3 -5 mins its back to normal though. Due for 24k service soon, Damn shes not even a year old yet!!!
