182 Service, 2 questions for you

  Racing Blue 182
Its gone for 12,000 mile service today.

They rung me up and said it needed new disks and pads, is that normal on 12,000 mile service? Also they said the disks had corroded, should that be under warranty?

They have also told me i need a new pollen filter, should that need changing so soon?

i seriously doubt that the discs would need changing, unless there is a defect on them

i dont know how long discs should last but it should be a damn site longer than 12k miles

Really is dependent on driving style, Me and my mate both had 1.2 16v he got threw pads in 11k and mine didnt need replacing even on the 18k service.

I would have alook yourself if you know a bit and see what there like. Suppose it depends how much you trust the dealer, but mine are on 14k and have loads left.

They are having a laugh, unless you are incredibly hard on the brakes?

I've done just over 10k, including four track days, with Mintex race pads, and the discs are still good for another 6 months?

yeh i told them not too touch either as i thought thy may be screwing me over, i have a complaint going throuh Mr Talou-Derible at the moment, they contacted me yesterday and also received an acknowledgment letter today, so hopefull they will answer for me.

Any1 know if corrosion on disks would be covered under warranty?

Cannot imagine that corrosion on discs will be covered as there are so many possible factors and generally classed as wear & tear parts. Factor could be if you've not had the car from new has it sat on a forecourt for a while??

There was someone on the RS forum, who had the same problem, due to lack of use, they said.

I think Reno paid for them.

Do a search on there.
