182 spoiler pack - how much value?

Currently looking at a 182 that has Cup suspension, colour sat nav but no cup spoilers.

I have read that to get decent resale you must have both cup packs. I'd have thought that the suspension, together with the darker wheels, would be the main draw for buyers. Is the spoiler pack that important?

Depends on the buyer. Someone from this forum would probably insist on it, where as the general public might not care so much (or even be aware what a 'cup' spoiler is).

btw, I don't think you could get the cup spoiler with the satnav option.

yep, you cant get sat nav with cup spoiler pack, not from the factory anyway;)
depends upon the buyer, some would say that sat nav is more important these days?

With the rareness of th sat nav that should be a selling point in its self.

As Mike says the sat nav will be the reason for no spolier pack. Rear spolier hits the different roof antennna needed for the sat nav or something.

At least being having the spoiler pack missing rather than suspension means, you could easily add the the missing spolier pack alot more easily and cheaply than the Suspension.

Only other renaultsport owners would probably be able to tell if the cars got either cup packs. Unless you know what to look for. The sat nav is rare, and you could always get a cup splitter for the front. Renault charge a small fortune for them (£150 odd) but K-tec do a carbon spliter for arround the £100 mark or have a look arround the scrappys. Alot of 172 cups get binned arround this time of year and i went to a small scrappy last month they had one there and one was coming in later that day.

Thanks for the advice chaps, very useful. I am being offered a car with "both cup packs" that plainly does not have the spoilers, but does have sat nav.

I think the sat nav outweighs the lack of spoiler pack, but you should let the seller know it doesn't have the spoilers, maybe get a little knocked off the price?

yeah i couldnt get the spoiler pack with my car as i ordered the nav. Suppose I could have them fitted but not bothered at the minute, like the smoked rear light anyway on the non cup pack cars.

Shame they couldnt have just used smaller tail gate openers like on the trophy then i could have ordered both cup packs form new.

The antenna on a 182 nav car is same as a V6 antenna, (no nav for V6 believe antenna is used for tracker or something), so when the boot is opened it would touch the whip part if I had the cup spoiler pack. Although like in these pics i have from an early 182 in france, it only touches slightly. You could have the nav and both cup packs in france, renault say they didnt have option in UK as they UK buyers would have complained about it touching.

Another person on here has retro fitted the spoiler packs, see black one below hope he dont mind me using the pics ;)

Notice the difference in the antenna bases.

I don't think the V6 has the sat nav-type antenna, but the boot doesn't open properly to stop the V6 rear spoiler hitting it. Class bit of engineering that :clown:

V6 has same antenna mate, look.

Carlos13,

they dont offer it on the clio new anymore, but they still do it on other renaults.
What are you wanting to know? Now I have a TMC enabled disc its very useful, informing where local traffic problems are etc.

Depends which nav disc you have as to if you have postcode search, I changed from my renault disc pretty soon after I got the car to a VDO one. Dont use it every day but its always on, and useful for finding things and its never once messed up for me. I much prefer to having a built in unit than one stuck to the windscreen that you have to take off every time, but if you have more than one car then a portable one may be better. But imo built in versions look better.

I had no idea you could source a different disc to the standard Renault one...where did you get the VDO one from and how much?

click on shop and go to navigation discs, mine is the 2004/5 vdo teleatlas UK map, think i paid £150 for it. TMC (live traffic messages) is usually about a tenner more so well worth it if your nav system supports tmc, which the renault one does. At first tho renault didnt offer TMC enabled map discs but now they do.

If you fancy reading longest ever parkers thread about it look here lol

The renault carminat system is based on the vdo MS5000 but has different connections so no TV input as far as i know.
