Hi,
A couple of months ago I bought a Black 05 clio 182 with 75000 miles, so im new to this site and to clio sports!
when I got the car home it sounded like a diesel and it was running quite rough on idle, I was soon advised that it was the dephaser pulley that was the proplem, there was a also a small fracture on a weld in the scopion exhaust that was making a ticking sound, the fracture was quikley fixed and filled up but I still had the ticking noise as well as the noisy dephaser so I forgot about the exhuast as I could put up with that. I eventually got the a new dephaser and belt fitted last week and the this solved the erratic idling and nasty sounding rattle now this is fixed the ticking noise that I originally thought was my exhaust is coming from the top end of the engine :S
As for the ticking noise, it is there hot or cold and on idle, it just goes more frequent along with the revs and does not go away, it just evens itself out the harder you rev it, I have now been told it could be the hydrolic lifters? I also replaced the oil (5-40) and the filter as soon as the new dephaser was fitted
could these be the problem? anybody had this ticking sound before? :banghead:
