I'd have killed for front wheel drive earlier! Manage to do at least half the 20ish mile journey home from the matlock meet sideways, span it in a carpark too on pulloff in front of everyone

I just lol'd @ that too.

... you wanna get an rwd French car mate, they don't work well in snow either !:( The backs ok, but it err, don't really steer.

I can imagine! No weight in the front in this weather must be sh*te!

My 182 has just been awsome in the snow, didn't get out of shape/stuck once :approve:

Paradas + snow = awsome

  Clio 172 RS2
RS2 + Snow = FUN! ! !

Could use some fresh tires upfront though... although they won't help much.
Just kept the car rolling and shortshifting.

Too wide of a turning circle? Handbrake! LOL

My 172s been a hoot in the snow today, and its got up all the hills it needed to. It even made its way past a line of stranded traffic up walshaw dip earlier haha.

Nice pics. Mines not been too bad in snow, tc off and handbrake ftw. Did get stuck trying to get up my road last night, ended up sliding sideways trying to turn round, so gave up and walked up the hill.

  Clio 182 & VX220
I own a VX220 and recently also joined the 182 club as well.

The little 182 has been amazing and a total pleasure to drive in all the conditions thrown at me the last few days. Another plus is that it has a great heater rather than the little blower in the VX which has less affect than someone in the passenger seat breathing on you.

The VX220 is a major problem in the snow though and will be left at home for the time being.

  Tiger R6 / Saxo Vts
I have to disagree on the VX220 front - my mini cooper s is boring in the snow - the VX I used to have was awesome. Take the roof off, and just get sideways everywhere at about 10mph. I was getting through stuff that normal cars were getting stuck in - having the engine over the back wheels gave good traction I found.

Decided to sell the mini and was planning on getting a Saxo Vts, but wondering what MX5 I could get on the cheap for about 2-3k....trying to find a BBR turbo one which might hit the spot (or a hedge backwards lol)...

  Clio 182 & VX220
Heh, disagree on the Cooper S front, had one of those before the VX, pretty well tuned and the front wheels used to spin up even on slightly damp surfaces, very hard to get moving. The VX will move, but with the rear wheel drive and engine behind you it is so easy for it to snap around and bite. Many get written off this time of year.

The RB looks great in the snow pics btw Christopher :approve:

Nah, it'd chip really easily. Plus, I like it like that.

It shows off the fact that the cambelt's been done. :p

What are you's on about?

The 182 is the best car in the snow I've drove and the only one that can get out our driveway lol! Was up the mournes the other day, at least 6" on road & about 3-4 ft at sides and she slided round the mountains perfectly :)

running 195 profile though and deep threads on my PE2's :)

Have to agree, we've got 9 inches of snow down here and i was out at 6am driving 50 miles with no problem, got up loads of hills no problem, hill start no problem.
You just have to know how to drive and plan ahead.

So small fwd hatchback with high percentage of weight distribution over front wheels,
There are far worse options out there....
20 years driving experience and driving in rural areas for a living in all weathers counts for something no?,
What im saying is ive driven far worse cars in snow, could be your tyres or your ground clearance but having owned lots of fwd cars on coilovers i personally dont think thats a massive factor.....
