197 Buying Dilemma

  Clio 200
Hi guys,

Looking for a little advice here. On the cusp of buying another 197 and I'm looking at two in particular.

Here's the first...

£7,495. 4 previous owners, 40k mileage, FSH etc. Mint. Dislike the black wheels.

The second is this one.

£7,995. 20k mileage, FSH, 1 previous owner. Has worn recaros and steering wheel. Lower mileage, I much prefer the white wheels.

Price isn't an issue, I just want the best. Which you you choose?

The one with the lower mileage all the time and its only had 1 owner new steering wheel is around £160 I think the recaros are £250 to repair off r sports.

i would use it as an excuse to to have them retrimmed in leather and alacantre :)

If price isn't an issue I'd pay an extra £500 and get a 200. Out of those two though I'd go for the lower mileage example, but i do like them both.

The real question here is how the hell, after 20k has it got a worn steering wheel & recaros? What do people do?

I dont get what all the hype is with the Recaro's? I find they bloody painful to get in & out of! :(

thats valid, but for everyday use & for the car never to see a track I see them as a waste of money tbh!

I think the recaro's are one of the nicest chairs ive ever sat in! I love them on long journeys. I can see why people dont but i do think there worth every penny, except for what renault covered them in lol!

i would choose automatic air con rather than the recaros or is that just me? i prefer the look of the standard 197 seats i choose auto aircon, cup spoiler, raider dark wheel,s cruise control and speed limeter as some dont have it

why? its so pointless lol.

lack of recaros now screams pov spec to me :( i know thats not always the case, just cant help it lol.

i didnt get the hype over recaros until i sat in a demo 200. then i had to have them lol

The Recaro's suit the car so much better, makes it more into a 'hot hatch' seeing the pov chairs lets the whole car down.

Love the seats. Supportive, comfy (125miles a day) and look the dangles.

  Clio 200
There are pros and cons for both. I managed to get £500 knocked off the second one with the Recaros so in this case that's the better deal.

I had a 197 previously without Recaros and I was never bothered about them but definitely worth having this time around.

So what about the blue R27 i posted?

For the same money I get a younger, lower mileage car with xenons (want), freshly serviced, 6 month warranty, taxed until May and Mot until November '13.

Never been keen on the F1 decals, not bothered about cup chassis. You think I'm making a bad purchase or you just prefer the spec of the other?

Personally i prefer the spec of the R27 and its slightly improved future resale value. Cup chassis is also essential on the 197 imho.

In addition, the Recaros on the other one you have posted look knackered.

Considering i sold a '57 plate Nimbus cup with 30k miles, new 'box and recaros for £6.5k in March this year, i think they are both overpriced lol.

They are a bit worn but I'll get them sorted, hence the discount. Appreciate what you're saying though.

The recaros are very good. Until you spend 3 hours in them without stopping, then they are bloody terrible.

I found them quite comfortable on long journeys tbh. Especially on my euro trip. There was one day I spent 8 hours driving due to the weather and not being able to stay in one place that was booked. I sit quite upright, I see a lot of people slouch in them, then I can see them being uncomfortable.
