197s are getting silly cheap?

  Clio F1 197 Cup
Well, firstly it was N/A in the ST220
But mostly that's a bad idea for handling.
Also, Ford would rather put models to market that will sell...... The Focus Convertibles being the exception to prove the rule
Apologies, I thought they were turbo for some reason. And secondly, I know haha, tongue in cheek comment.

Focus ST170s were a great car. Really underrated.
Look epic in that Blue too

Of the gearbox... clearly. Haha! Looks great mate, loving that front grill and stance. One of the best colours imo too. I very nearly bought one of these before my 182, I still think they are a cracking little car.

Thanks mate. Still got a lot of plans for it... new brakes and intercooler going on tomorrow because I have my first track time coming up next week

I had 2x 182's before it. Out the box the Clio is the better car, no doubt. But after a few mods the MINI can be a lot of fun, and the noise! With the supercharger whine and crackling/popping exhaust I'd honestly say it was my best sounding car ever.

I think I will definitely have to try one at some stage.

I ordered everything bar rear parking sensors (they look crap just stuck to the bumper) and they all came on the car, but they deleted some FF bits with Cup bits :/
I had a Cup interior light, Cup Tunepoint radio with no aux and USB panel etc. Really odd.
They sorted it all in the end, but I had to prove that I had ordered it. I just said "Well, it's obviously not a Cup"
Once they agreed that my car was not a Cup, they retro-fitted everything I ordered. :/
This one had rear parking sensors, hardly noticed them :)

Im going to say this all the time on here now but if you had £5-6 to spend id definatly go looking for a decent R26 - its a much better car than the 197/200 imo.

For £5-6?

I mean, yeah, the running costs just dropped sharply but it's not going to be comfortable on long journeys

I thought the opposite - the recaros are so much more comfortable than the 200 seats and its a very civilised car on the motorway, can cruise effortlessly, with less high revving noise aswell. The ride isnt as firm as a lowered 182 either imo.

Aren't the seats a little small though?

The 200's Recaros are a really nice fit and they're more comfortable than they look, providing that you sit bolt-upright in them.
I did Le Mans to Manchester in one sitting as well as Dartford to Nurburgring via Bruge all in one go and still felt fresh.
My issue with them (and why I sold mine) was the height of them. They're about a foot too high in the car! You feel like you're sat on the car, rather than in it.
Since changing to fixed buckets, it's like a whole new experience... albeit one that I've not tested on a long journey yet.

The seats werent my issue with the 200,it was the rough feel to the engine on a cold start with no power and the terrible flatspot issue i had everyday. I wouldve had to spend £300 on the EFI map to at least make it better - maybe i got a duff 200,who knows. But going straight to an R26,the difference is night & day for me in the quality of the car.

I'd rather have a Megane than a 197, even if it was just a clean and tidy 225. (A later revised one though!)

Yeah but the belts should be fine for another 3 years?
In theory, I don't know much about the belts but perhaps they are misaligned? Or it is one of the other belts? Needs a gearbox recondition and that oil leak looking at but I might be tempted for £2k!

Megane R26 is a good car for £6k, but as this is cliosport I'll come back on topic and ask what's a 197 with meg engine a day box like? Is it more civilised as a daily? How much on top of the cheap 197 is a engine swap?

True dat, got to be a better daily without the cold start running and much more low down torque. Wouldn't even know how to price what it would cost to put a meg engine in, parts or labour.
