If you go the RS2 route, and decide it isn't for you, you will easily sell the RS2 on and make most of your money back, too. They are rare and much sought after items. :)

It was, then it wasn't... no end of problems with one thing and another mate. However, it's spent the last year at BTM Performance and I get it back in a couple of weeks time or so - complete with new ITB setup, forged internals, Schrick cams and a few other goodies. I can't wait. It should drive well. :)

RS2 route it is then. Problem solved!

And fecking hell, that's a long time to wait, but sounds like it's going to be worth it!
I'll take you up on that offer of a closer look when you get it back if you don't mind?

If you're going to fork out on a RS2 and mapping with it being a fun car I see no reason not to go all the way with ITBs. No compromise solution to more power.

A used RS2 inlet + mapping is going to be around £1300-1500. Used ITBs and ECU can be had for around the same, then set aside £300 for mapping. More power, more torque, more noise.

Yeah, no problem mate - be happy to. :)

Sweeet, give us a heads up when she's back :race:

looking at it that way (and price wise) you make a fair damn point.

Advantages to Bodies versus RS2:
Noisier (sounds epic)
Will make more power
Anywhere good at mapping can map it (depending on what ECU you go for, not if you are silly enough to buy an ECU that is restricted in this respected like the Ktec one)

Advantages to RS2 versus Bodies:
Can keep cruise (or fit it if you dont have it)
Can keep aircon
Economy will be marginally better
Cold start etc is as per standard still
No lights on dashboard etc
Quieter (wont get pinged for noise at tracks which in some places can be an issue on bodies, although thankfully very few, bedford is the only one that springs to mind currently although things are getting worse elsewhere too)

So basically the ITBs are ultimately better for power, but the RS2 has no compromise on functionality like aircon etc.
Careful with who you get to map the RS2, Ktec have openly admitted on this forum they are incapable of getting decent results on it for example.
The only people I would recommend are MWM or Rs Tuning. With MWM being the preferred mapper of Stone Automotive who makes the RS2 itself.
With the bodies you can take it to any decent aftermarket mapper near you though, so a lot easier in that respect.

Personally if its a road car mainly I would probably go RS2, if its a trackday toy though then it would ITBs for me personally.

I'm deffo modifying my RS2 Chip as per today's discussion. Already spoken with the Engineer and CNC operator to make sure my design is okay and not mega money in materials alone. I also found some 70mm trumpets knocking around in the spares pile so why not eh

Thanks for the call time to. If you want me to take a look at those drivers for you just gimme a nudge.

Cool stuff Mick, will be interesting to see how it turns out :)

It's going to be a mix of both a track day toy and weekend mountain menace so I'll probably stick with the RS2 route.
I'd rather avoid having the air con removed, swapping ECUs as well and keep the mpg average "decent" so it makes sense.
Cheers for the input Chip and the pros/cons. I'll look in your recommendations too.
Top man.

It should be the best NA engine ever how long its taken !! Andy deserves it after all the hassle hes had with this car .

It had me at "Schricks"
LOL! Thanks guys. I didn't quite have the budget for the "best NA engine ever" but I'm sure it will be a bit special. Even Fred stated that it should be a bit "fruity" - which bodes well. I'm just looking forward to getting it back and having some fun with it in 2014.

Anyways, this sounds interesting...
