4 any1 getting coilovers

After looking at various coilovers decided to go for FK Automotive which look great and use Koni internals. Have a great warranty too.

Found a place called http://www.performancedriven.co.ukwww.performancedriven.co.uk and they sell the non adjustable version for 480 quid, 630 for adjustables. Also for a limited time only they are offering free fitting which cant be bad and would save a hefty sum.

Gonna order mine this week but have to wait for delivery in January.

I would go for adjustible if i had a faster car.... thing is they dont do coilovers for the rear of 172s just the front....

According to the website (FK Automotive) 172 coilovers are available front and rear with height adjustment but not adjustable hardness.

i would check out the K-tec site - coilovers are (I believe) cheaper than that, although they arent quite ready yet I dont think. Speak to Dave

matty, im running KTR/GAZ coilovers. they are fully adjustable and cost me around 450 i think( you are talking mk1 16v arent you?)

Yeah phase2 16v but want to get the best I possible can for the money and heard about harsh ride on Gaz suspension. Was looking at H&R but these FK coilovers look very good, are TUV approved, have a good warranty and are made in conjunction with Koni. Getting them for £480 and fitted free, work £160 apparently seems a top deal.

Not sure how much 172s cost but worth considering if any1 is after those as are the coilovers for any other renault models. Heard good things about FK from users on other forums and they arent too harsh a ride.

They have made adjustible front coilovers for ride height and damping but rears are just damping.. as ride height was governed by seperate springs... that was AVO I think.... Thing is the ClipCups the real ones they have coil overs all round so you must be able to buy them eh

up to you at end of day, i ended up paying £600 all in for mine. ride is incredibly harsh but KTR and GAZ are coming up with a solution as we speak so may be worth hanging on?? i know that i am waiting for the softer springs to come in and KTR are replacing them free of charge. cornering is ridiculous in the dry, i take roundabouts at 60/70 with no drift, havent had a chance to properly kill em yet cos of weather though. you can see a couple of pics of my car wit coilovers on http://www.urban-instincts.co.uk/cliohttp://www.urban-instincts.co.uk/clio

Thats why I wanted to go with something more researched and proven, allegedly, like H&R or FK. They actually test on the car before production. All very well buying stuff like gaz that ends up getting changed spending more time in the garage. Id prefer it sorted straight from the box and fitted.

And proflex are roughtly £1000 per corner. Just to give you an idea of relative costs between proper competition coilovers and the rusbbish (in my opinion) you can get much cheaper.

Yeah you do pay for what you get but who could justify paying over the odds for suspension on a clio. You will get a great return in terms of handling up to a point until it becomes not worth the extra money. I would not be wanting to pay more than 480 quid for a set of coilovers as I wont be raing and dont need loads of adjustability. Just want better shox than standard that are well built and should last a long time if designed and made correctly.

what are the opinions of leda as mentioned already, anyone got them ? heard they are well good but would like to know someones opinion first

what about the avo coilovers ? HP sell those, can anyone put in a good word for them ?

i poped down for a tour of leda and they showed me a V6 they had in

well i was impressed, the units are top notch and have a life time garauntee and are fully servicable all indevidual parts can be replaced and not the whole unit

i would call them and talk to them as they have been about since 1978

I would replace the standard dampers with new renault items. Then get some shorter springs, fit uprated wishbone and roll bar bushes and you will have a nice set up for not much money.

Dont forget renault spent huge amounts of time and money getting the damping right (as do all manufactures), why throw it away and put on stuff from someone who hasnt done anything like the amoun of research? Doesnt make sense really.
