Hey all.
Well well well, I went and bought a new car on Wednesday (08 June)!
I put a note on said car I've had my eye on for quite a while, basically saying "I've got a 172, looking to buy a 182, would you consider selling yours?" Differently worded I admit but you get the message.
Much to my surprise 2 days later I get an email saying that I'm in luck, he's selling it soon as he's got a new car on order, happy days! We exchanged a few emails over a week or 2 until he's ready for his new motor.
So I'm now the owner of a rather rare Clio 182 in Liquid Yellow.
First photo the evening I got it...

Now I have 3 long term project cars already so don't expect a huge amount of updates but I'll try to keep this thread fresh
So, I took some photos of the little blighter the day after I got it before I started doing anything with it.

I have removed the Nurburgring sticker don't worry.

Speedline Turini Wheels with nearly new Toyo T1R tyres all round. Don't worry, I have the centre caps, they're not fitted as they've been painted the wrong colour but I have some Gunmetal Grey Ford paint that should match so I'll paint them soon.
Suspension is made of standard Renault shocks and Eibach Pro-Kit springs, a little high maybe but it handles and rides extremely well.

The interior - although it's clean it's not clean.
Got a couple of nice bits being a metal foot rest, genuine Renaultsport floor mats and a nice JVC head unit.

The alcantara sections on the front seats are stained and bobbly, I'll sort the bobbling no problem.

But this is really the sort of issue I'm faced with, it's just quite grubby, the finish on some trim on these cars is coated in something that goes nasty which is a right pain.

Under the rear seats was horrid, all sticky, gross!

Just used some general purpose household cleaner and a nail brush.

Similar story in the boot, there was enough dogfood under the carpet to keep Battersea going for a month! Cleaned up now.

Now the one thing wrong with it, the gearbox!
Despite having a receipt in the history for a complete gearbox rebuild (all syncros, bearings etc) only 18 months ago there is a tiny crunch into 3rd if aggressive and a slightly bigger crunch into 4th. It doesn't crunch if you let the engine go back down to idle before selecting 4th, it's like driving a pre war car lol. Also it whines in 5th!
So yeah, a great little car other than the 'box!
