97 1.4 rt, will a 1.8 16v rsi engine fit?

  Punto Evo Abarth
hello, i want to change the engine in my car at a later date :p (well im thinking about it at the mo) i know alot of you are going to say "just buy a 1.8" bla bla bla but by the time im old enough to drive one they will be golddust, so anyway will a 1.8 16v engine from a mk1 rsi fit a 1997 clio rt 1.4? obviosly things will need to be modified and stuff but is it possible? if so what needs changing? thanks alot for your help :)

Yep you'll need a load of bits
A forum member has reciently done this best do a search but you need mounts ECU wiring looms clocks (preferably oil and oil temsp as well) radiator gearbox and best chnage the driveshafts and brakes for 1.8 items when your at it.

You can actually use the gearbox and driveshafts from the 1.4 - but I don't think they would last all that long. Your also be best off getting a 16v fuel pump and you can use the same engine mounts, though the 1.4 top mount isn't as good as the 16v one. The 1.4 exhaust can also be used but you would need the 16v manifold and downpipe.
