A DIFFERENT air filter thread

Rite I know everyone agrees panel filters air the best idea rite..
But what about if I get pipe work coming off the T/B and down behind the front left fog light and remove the fog?
Wouldn't that be better than my ITG panel filter?
Plus the longer the pipe work the more torque you get...

Get your car rolling roaded now and then build this new set up and thenget it rolling roaded again and you will see if it's any good. Could be good

Maybe but you NEED a filter in there as water or dirt, stones go up that pipe and bye bye engine.

The main concern about the idea suggested is the amount of water/debris that the filter will be exposed to.
Probably fine as a dry track setup, but as a all year round one, not so sure.

Or even have the fog in all the time it'll still be better then your pannel filter I reckon

Plus around here the roads often flood and we often have to drive through a foot of water resulting in your filter been submerged, although your maybe lucky and dont get that.

People have tried just about every solution to this. None of them work better than a v6 airbox.

why not use a v6 box and run a CAF down to the fog?

wasting your time, the best place for an air filter is in the most unobvious place, back of the engine bay where the ABS pump sits

I had my car rolling roaded a few weeks ago and only made 166 bhp and they said to change the air filter to something different..
My car 05 182 57k miles has a k-Tec map, matched inlets itg filter. Miltek exhaust and all uprated engine mounts and they Were confused why it was so low :-(

yeh running beautifuly atm, bit neglected atm since im constantly working on my mate puma'd fiesta,
but shes coming off the road for a couple of days next week possibly to have all the belts, tensioners and idle pulleys done! and a gooood service!

Oh cool. Don't bother changing the water pump and belt as were changed about 3000 miles before I sold it to you...

you probably have a sensor fault, maybe a cam timing fault, id take it to a well known RENAULT dyno, ie TDF or RST

I shouldn't of thought timing was out as k-tec did the belts last year... And had it on a diagnosis twice since and both cam up with nothing .. :-(
Maybe the rollers were crap ( dyno dynamics)

(in simple terms) nope as a "CAF" will only supply air based upon (approximatley) the vehicles speed, and as an NA engine "sucks" in air, by trying to "blow" air at an air filter you're pissing in the wind IMO

but surely keeping the feed in the engine bay will make the air too hot??
perhaps ill pull the CAFs off my valver, it sounds so much better without them anyway!

I think there's a rs tuner log somewhere around here where a guy (tekilator or the likes of that) had a k&N apollo 57 intake, the one that's routed to where the acoustic valve is (basically where the OP wants to place his filter). This log showed the coldest air and, according to the post, the car pulled noticeably better than the same car fitted with pannel filter and st airbox.

So I am guessing that it might work, based on the rs tuner logs posted here.
