A different type of knocking noise...

I bought my car with the impression the knocking was fucked front suspension. I've since fitted brand new suspension all the way round. Its sort of quietened (sp) down but its still there. Unless you drive very very gently, theres a loud but very fast knocking vibration noise under acceleration. Kind of like an engine mount type noise but sounds too fast for it to be thatm if that makes sense???
I've got some new top mounts to fit now as a last resort, but other than this, what else could it be??

drivers side engine mount by the sound of it, loosen bolts, pull engine forward with the help of a friend, tighten bolts, thats what sorted mine if its the same noise i had, was more like a grinding, vibrating noise than a knocking
