** a new Clio record **

  Meg on pistonheads £6995

am I a sad sad b**tard?

I got 795 miles from one tank of diesel!

(computer said 74.5mpg, 10.7 gallons and bout 100 miles on orange light)

this was a genuine 2 weeks of commuting (50mph single carriageway cross country) with a bit of motorway, bit of heavy traffic, passenger sometimes, bit of junk in the boot.

if I drove like a Nun on one long journey, NEVER overtook anybody and didnt run on grippy 17s (50mph nearly rips the rubber off on some of the bends on the way to work) Im convinced that 900 is possible!

impressive or sad (both) ?? ;)

Jesus Tom, surely that wasnt in the 182? The best I see is almost 300 miles on a full tank with a mix of motorway and city driving.

I take it Black Kro has been watching Top Gear. ;)

No its real. i reset the mileometer it shows(ed) 476.

Thats with the cda on and pure motorway miles. (about 76 of the 476 was getting on and off the m way)

I missed Top Gear...

... but have done Advanced Driver Training (less gear changes etc.) and do a lot of bike time-trialling - max. speed without stopping at roundabouts!!

I did around 350-370 miles out of a full tank the other week going to Rally Drive so it is definitely possible.

what speed were you travelling at, 67 mph downhill in the slipstream of another car with the climate off, having had a sh1t before leaving and going on hunger strike for a week?

1k is possible you just need to have patience. I did adverage 85 on my boring trips to and from work for a while. and it was still climbing (was just getting used to easy driving).

Quite impressive though the dci All it needs is an extra 200hp and would be the best engined Clio ever.

I get about 30mpg but i try and use country lanes on every journey possible.
Even when it means going 5 miles out of the way on my way home from work.

is this from a dc80? they any good?
Its either one of these or a 182. I do 60 miles a day.
The amount of money you save in fuel + not stopping at the garage buying food etc is a laod could probably buy a older 16V etc with the difference.

A 182 you might if your carful and use some care get 40mpg out of it the same car would get you 60 in the dci so savings are less. Assuming you do 300 a week it will save you about £9 a week getting a diesel.

Im halfway through a tank of petrol and Im trying to take it easy, current mpg reads 40, so hopefully when I get a chance to drive it again Ill be able to finish my experiment, altho me thinks after over a week of not driving it I might rag the hell out of it! lol

Easy calculation:

88p per litre is £4.00 per gallon

20K @ 35mpg = £2285

20K @ 70mpg = £1140

OVER A GRAND SAVED IN JUST 20 000 MILES!
