AA parts and garage cover?

  Audi A3
Morning,

dont know if anybody has used this or read about it at all?

just looking on their website it covers a breakdown parts/labour upto £500 with an excess of £25 p/claim.
with our ever reliable french cars im considering taking this out.

just reading over the T&C now

what do you lot think?

Very popular with Elise owners, if you get the full cover it usually costs around £100 a year, which gets you x5 repairs per years and they will pay up to £500 for each repair.Stickler is you have to call them out - ie you have to break down

yeah that is the stickler, im currently playing for RAC cover anyway mate.

i think with parts and garage cover and decent breakdown its £10-£15 a month.
reading through it too it needs to be serviced regularly by a garage etc so for people that do it themselves thats slightly annoying!

Nope, it says that but im on the elise foeum (ex elise owner) and id say 70% of owners with that service the cars them selfs - iv never heard of them asking for proof of garage servicing, in fact everyone who has used it said AA never ask any questions at all lol

I have had it on my Clio since I got it. Lets just say that I have had my moneys worth out of them over the 4 years of ownership:).
The only drawback is that the repairs have to be carried out by a VAT registered garage which means when I have had to use it I can't go to my regular place and VAT registered places tend to charge more per hour in my experience. For the most part this isn't much of an issue as most bills wont come to the £500 limit but if it's a possible big one then you will need to take it into account.
Also as above you need to have something go wrong to be able to call them out. (I ended up driving mine for a while with a faulty coilpack until the light came on) then I was straight on the phone lol.
When all said and done the AA from everything I have heard are probably the most likely warranty company to pay up rather than trying to wriggle out of it as well as covering more parts than most.

Even though I've made about 5 claims in the 4 years I don't think I've ever had to pay more than the £110 or so I had to pay this year for it. They try and put it up a bit if you make a few claims but I just ring up to cancel it at the end saying I'm to skint and they work something out for you lol.

I think a few people have had stuff like alternators replaced on it as well which saves a shed load.

I keep meaning to ring up about the parts and garage cover and if it's only an extra £10 a month then I might as well do it. Anytime I have used the AA it's been excellent tbh. I have a Premier account at Lloyds so you seem to get all the toys with it, the Stay Mobile thing is brilliant. Free hire car for 3 days if you have to get towed. Can't recommend the AA highly enough tbh.

my garage deals with alot of these , good idea had a bloke have a full rear axle on his Mitsubishi Delica the other day worth the money if you think your car will break down but take into consideration general servicing , if you get it done right and regular theres no real reason you should break down loads , yes the odd one but the cost of the insurance may be more than the odd break down and if its a massive breakdown they only contribute which helps , if its wear and tear they wont do it , it has its benefits and drawbacks !

Lad I know with a 5 series diesel with high mileage has it and swears by it. He's had a new turbo off them and something else sure something to do with the clutch that would have been £££.

As said if the garage tells the aa it's not wear and tear and something has failed they pay out.

I've got it, had it for 18 months now.

Used it once for a new starter motor on the BMW. Would have cost me £260 (fitted) for a new one, go one free thanks to AA.

I think I pay about £130/year...that includes full breakdown cover as well.

We used to have it on previous cars, Soph got a new steering rack out of them for the mk1 clio and the puma got its gearbox reconditioned plus other bits and bobs, well worth the money but think the car must be under 10years old and sub 100k miles.
