following on from the other thread:

i was going up my road back to work and some idiot in a Landcruiser pulled out right in front of me. was only going at slow speed coz it was near a junction, but i skidded and bumped into the side of the thing. could have been a lot worse but it ripped off my reg plate, and theres a few scratches on the bumper :( god dammit

ps.does anyone know what the deal is with driving without a front plate for a while?

not even a small mark on it mate. it was a landcrusier, so it wwould be like a lion running into the side of an elephant...... if you see what i mean!

man, im pissed off! where can i get a replacement plate? ASAP?

No plate = £30 non-endorsable fine.

Mine might 'fall off' when I have to go long distances at high speed and don't want to risk getting snapped by a front-facing camera  ;) LoL

Get plates from most car shops but you need proof of id and ownership so your driving licence or utility bill and your v5. Halfords are pretty expensive about a tenner so any less than that is cool

Sounds like it could have been alot worse.

A local motor factors such as Brown Brothers/Partco will do them cheaper than Halfords.

Ditto but you'll still need your docs with you.

You REALLY need to check the sides of the bumper, where the bumper meets the wing. THIS is the area that will show effect of a bump... check things like headlight alignment and other panel alignment. Someone reversed into the front of my bumper REALLY hard and the damaged showed in the alignment of the bumper/wing panel, i.e. there was a big gap!! Still waiting for a phone call to take it into the garage. Thing is, although the bumper can look undamaged, you have no idea what it's done to the mounts and the inside. So basically they're gonna have to take my bumper off, do a detailed check for damage and either repair it or just re-align the bumper. My insurance company are dealing with it becuase the repairs could be anywhere from £60 to £600 and it's getting a bit complicated!!
