air con delete devalue car?

  monaco 172
I fancy doing and air con delete on my 182 as its crap anyway and still is even after my regas for the heatwave.

I'll be selling the car next year, would you think having a PMS delete kit installed would noticeably reduce the value of the car or is there a possibility it could increase the value due to the possible performance improvement?

I wouldn't at all (as in I wouldn't be put off)

Aircon is not that useful in this country. (This weather isn't exactly normal is it, before the 'what!' comments come flying at me)

Yeh I agree, this last 2 weeks is the first time I've properly used the air con in 3 years of owning the car.

Maybe it wouldn't decrease the value but it might restrict your target market - a little or a lot, who knows? That in turn might force you to lower the price if it didn't sell.

Would it increase value? No, IMO it would not.

Wouldn't bother me, again, would be a plus IMO.

Best mod I did to my 172 at the time, cheaper Cambelt too ;) :)

What about when its pissing down the other 99% of the time?

Aircon is surely better to demist the car than just the blowers?

I'd not buy a day to day car without aircon personally.

Surely people realise Air Con doesn't just work when it's warm?

This is probably why it's not particularly effective - in those 3 years you've given plenty of opportunity for things to grow inside the plumbing.

This. Air con is great in the winter for de-misting windows (says the 172 Cup owner without air-con)!

It's supposed to have it. If I was looking at your car for sale and it didn't have it/work then I'd be looking elsewhere. So would lots of other people...

The thing is anyone who owns or knows about Clios would probably not mind as much but you're limiting your market to enthusiasts. Anyone who doesn't know and might fancy one for the first time is just going to look elsewhere.

I sold my old 172 to a newbie to the RS range, I reckon he wouldn't have bought it if it had bits missing.

If it's not a track car and the car came with air con and it's not working, I'd be looking very carefully at the asking price.

If it's cheap enough, the car is in great nick and it's been done properly then sure what's the problem.

Someone might want this already done, makes the belt jobs cheaper and it's only in use for 3 weeks a year ( providing your rubbers are good and doesn't condensate in the winter ) and it's not exactly an easy job to do.

Mental prices. 2k actually buys a good 182 these days. If you haggle like me anyway!

I dont think air con gets turned off in my car tbh. Id be put off but then is it really a high priority when buying a 2k car?

I'd sooner just fix it personally.

Also if you do it then the pure kit seems to have had a few reliability issues, its lovely and light etc, so probably a good choice for a race car, but I reckon a secondhand cup setup is a much more durable option.

You're selling the car next year so whats the point? Just leave it as it is tbh.

Or just fix the aircon so it works..

What reliability issues are they having?

Unreliable to the point belts are getting tangled in the cam belt?
