Re: Alex's 182 *Ideas Please!*

So today I decided to paint my brake calipers yellow. Started raining half way through the job though but luckily managed to get the left side of the car done before it chucked it down, so driving around with yellow calipers on the left and standard grey/rust on the right!

Excuse the state of my wheels at the moment, I'm getting new wheels in the next week or two so can't be arsed to clean them!

Re: Alex's 182 *Ideas Please!*

Also decided to fit my new style RS badge today. Didn't see what the fuss was about with people struggling to line up the holes though? Mine was dead easy (although I slightly bricked it as I didnt realise the badge was in two parts so thought I'd broken it!)

Does that full service history include the cambelt kit? If not, that might be the first thing to get done.

No sadly it hasn't had cambelt done yet. Will more than likely get that done in January though. The car is going to ktec to have a new cat back exhaust, lowering springs and new rear shocks fitted by them, so I'll see if they can do me some sort of mad deal to get the cambelt done at the same time. I'm guessing that I will be looking a bill of nearly a grand though by the time I've got all those bits done! :banghead:

Any idea of how much I should be paying for cambelt to be done?

Re: Alex's 182 *Ideas Please!*

Very today car, looking forward to the new wheels!

Yeah me too! Would like to get the other side of the car's brakes done about a week before the wheels go on though just to make sure they aren't going to mark them. As soon as they're here I'll get some pics up so stay tuned!

sub £500 from a specialist inc. Aux belt kit. This really should be the first thing you get done as they need to be changed at 72k or five years, and its been well over years so your working on borrowed time. Remember a snapped cambelt nearly always means new engine time! exhuast and lowering springs are useless on a car with no engine! :)

But at least my car will look nice! haha

woah thats a fair whack of money then! well I will be getting the lowering springs and rear shock as xmas pressies so I will just leave them sat there and make my cam belt a priority then! luckily it's not used every day, probably for only 50miles a week maximum, so I will keep my fingers crossed until i save up the wedge for that! only saving grace is i got my birthday and xmas coming up so I may have enough after that haha. thanks for the advice though!

Re: Alex's 182 *Ideas Please!*

has it every had the aux belt changed? as that's also supposed to be changed at only 30k as well. When these go, they normally always take out the cambelt as well. Obviously gets changed when you get the cambelt done but might be a reason to drive it even less! lol. Obviously hope the worse doesn't happen for you :)

Re: Alex's South coast 182

Have had a few quotes for the cambelt, RenTech in Portsmouth will do the cambelt, aux belt and the dephaser pulley for £640 all in. Does this sound like a good price?

Re: Alex's South coast 182

Sorry for lack of updates haven't really had time for posting on here lately!

Last weekend I restored my headlights....came out ok, but still not 100% happy. I bought a meguairs kit off ebay but it didnt turn up so I had to go to motor world and buy a crappy turtle wax kit.

Re: Alex's South coast 182

And here it is....biggest update so far to the car and possibly the biggest one I'll do for ages....

MY WHEELS ARRIVED!

In case anyone is wondering, the wheels I've got are Diewe Allegrezza's (16's) with Pirelli PZero Nero GT rubber on them. I wanted something that looked like Speedline Turini's but wasn't actually Turini's. Basically just something that nobody else has really! I reckon they look just as good (if not better!) than Turini's. What you guys think?

Ignore the dent about the arch....bloody car park ding!

Removed "Snap Off" and speed camera stickers to clean up the back
