alpine 55r problem.

Well my alpine the cost me a bucket load of cash dont work properly.!
I cant seem to pick up radio very often so i asume the ariel isnt working.
Ive checked the connections and it all looks ok.
Also the screen doesnt fold away! It kinda just hangs out and rattles.
Great.
On top of that its the most complex thing ive ever brought. Doing my nut in!
Anyone got any ideas?

When it stuck, just push eject button and push it up little.

Haven't had any problems with mine, where did you get that screen animation from as mine hasn't got that on it ?

I have yet to experience any of those problems, dont suppose anyone knows if you can change it so the lights come on with the headlights rather than staying on all the time.

my reception on my 9815 isn't great tbh

Theres supposed to be a way of changing the lights to come o i think not sure how though read the manual and see. Sure it mentions something.

That background animation is on all of them just have to set it so the screen isnt display any details of the song cd etc it'll start with some lines and change to the squares and circles.

Mine had a problem with folding away although only lasted a day and after forcing it to go back has been fine since it only actualy buggered up when i was trying to navigate an mp3 cd and i hit a nice bump and forced the unit back in by accident.

The unit is fairly complicated but its the same with any high end unit they get more complicated cause the people buying them generally want more customization over the sound etc. But personally i found it quite easy to get the hang of.

My aerial reception is fine as well i did get an adaptor for mine though. But wasnt on the clio not sure of the clios aerial.

What parts specifically setup wise you having problems with? And if the screen wont go back properly all you have to do to fix it is when you press eject push the unit back in as it closes. I always have mine on a slight angle cause my unit is fairly low down in the car so easier to see and use at a slight angle.

The slider controls are rubbish..esp when trying to select a artist/song/playlist on the ipod.
Ther radio used to work great then it died. Had no radio action for months now.
I was gonna take it out and plug in the stock system to see if the radio would work on that?
My fold screen seems to rattle even when pushed in. (you dont need another rattle in the clio).
Set up wise well i dont know. Down loaded some stuff from alpine but i dont really understand wot it does so i just end up stabbing buttons and hope for the best...lol
Anyone know wot the massive silver box does that hangs out the back?
Mabye its just the wrong system for me. ???

Sounds like the unit is faulty anyways so take it back to where you got it and get a new one.

Im one of those people that really likes the glide touch i think its simple to use when your not looking i just see loads of people using them though and being really gentle and not getting anywhere around the menus. and taking ages i just basically mash my fingers over it and works fine lol.

Downloading things from the alpine site is just really to tune the sound of it. You can do all that using just the headunit. And the silver box at the back was for power if i remember correctly.

mine had problems with going back up but it was the silver strip around the sides that was stopping it so i pushed it flat and havnt had a problem since.
about the radio im not sure ive never had a problem.
one thing thats anoying me at the moment is the screen goes blank after a few seconds and i have no idea why, anyone have a clue?

its a feature to use less power. Check the manual it will tell you how to solve.
My manual is packed away cos im moving.
Can you let me know wot buttons to stabb when you find out?

if u want to change the background push the menu once then go to setup, go to the display icon and select, then their is a menu called BGV enter that and choose the background off there

I've got the dimmer cable from the renault loom connected, it dims it with the headlights if thats what you mean. Doesn't light up if its off and you turn on the headlights though which is what i'd like it to do too, but I suppose you can have them all.
The manual actually says not to connect it if you've got the dash dimmer facility on the car, but I read it after and I haven't killed it yet.

i didnt know what to do with that orange wire 4 the dimmer do u just make a feed from the light switch to it ?

I've got a dimmer wire in the power iso connector can't remeber what colour it is though its in the haynes manual, so i've taken a feed off that stuck a bullet connector on the end and plugged it into the female bullet on the alpine loom.

to fix that press and hold the func key in for a few seconds till it beeps. that should sort that problem out.

And dimmer i didnt bother connecting mine cause my interior is always lit up. the display in the C4 adjusts to the brightness outside if its bright sunshine on the instrument panel they turn pure white. If its dark they light up in varying levels of amber. So was pointless me connecting it. SO cant say what to do with that.
