Another expensive service :(

Car  Motorbikes
had my car serviced this morning and the garage said it needs the near side CV gator replaced as its leaking fluid (so they'll also need to check the brakes for contamination), the new front tyre which was fitted three weeks ago was fitted the wrong way round (then how come it passed its mot a week after?), the coolant needs replaced and there is a lip on both rear brake drums and they reccommend I replace the timing belt as a matter of priority... all in £280 to fix it (excluding timing belt), just aswell my parents are lending me the money :S

Not as bad as the last service before I bought it, it was £600!!

Just paid £300 for a service and a MOT for mine. Who said non RS's are cheap lol

Now just to pay £400 for my insurance renewal :(

that's bad, I've done 38k in my 172 and touch wood I've spent £580 ish on 3 Renault services. ( 2 minor 1 major ). No problems.

I've also just paid for my insurance renewasl which was £800ish and now need to get the timing belt done, unfortunatly before pay day, thank god for the bank of mum and dad.

cv gaitors can be done on the cheap by getting a big universal one shove it in boiling water and stretch it over the hub etc, saves a fair bit od labour time!

but would that not upset the warranty? the guy at the garage said it would only be replaced under warranty if the driveshafts were knocking too so i'm guessing they wouldnt do the job under warranty if it wasnt a renault part.

job's done now anyway so not much i can do about.

thats damn expensive mate as most of that could be done with genuine parts at at lot less.
swap tyre round
cv boot
grind off lip on drums
change coolant.
about an hour and a halfs work.

timing belt kit including pulleys is £350 at arnold shark but i'm gonna get it done at my local garage for about half that i think

Oh no not AC mate. Try and find yourself a good local garage. I've finally found one near me but have went through a few before I found a garage I'm happy taking the car to.
