Dug this one out this evening to have a little go since the latest update, as well as AC Rally which I've just updated in that thread.

It seems to be running better. The handling is great. The graphics are great. It really is like ACC but with road cars. Dare I say it, I even drove the E46 M3 and had fun.

It's frustrating that it's so incomplete, but not because the devs are too slow or anything. It's because it's got so much potential and will hopefully see that potential lived out in time, but because everyone sees it being so incomplete they don't really want to play it yet. I'm quite sad that career mode has been dropped. It clearly had a lot of potential and was a fairly core part of the game, but I'm hoping it's a case of 'it's not the priority right now so if we cancel it, we can always re announce and implement it further down the road' as it's not going to be anywhere near as much fun freeroaming for no reason.

Yeah it's all about the free roam, not sure why they've released with anything but that and the ring in place, even if only a smaller area.

AC Evo is only £24 at the moment on Steam.
Under £18 on Loaded.com now too.

Been trying the MX-5 ND Global Cup car in full manual, in a single type/single lap race of the 'Ring. Really good fun. Span it a few times where I'm letting the clutch out too drastically on the downshifts and the rear end is light; but it's a very compliant car overall.

Cheated 'slightly' by selecting the tyres to be already optimal at race start. But apart from that, pretty much all assists are off - with stability control at a mere 5%. I might even switch that off completely.

Can we have a practice time set on the 'Ring with clear weather, midday and any assists declared?

Car to be the Dallara EXP (?) open top.

Open to anyone, but calling in the usual suspects. Off course, screenshot evidence of laptimes are required.... ;)

I am shite at the ring. I just dont know the track well enough. Ill see what I can do. Expect it to be measured in hours rather than minutes

Well, I've been trying to lap for the last 2 hours and it is too difficult on game pad. Not even managed a clean lap yet and the only semi clean lap I managed I skidded to a halt on a kerb and beached... had to restart the session.

I had a quick go too, it’s a challenge keeping the car straight let alone getting it around corners 😬

Well, finally managed a clean lap - but I had all assists on except stability control. Not a great time, but it's a start.

Video of the lap - from a recording so it doesn't have the flippin' time or HUD display!

Well impressive that with a pad - I simply cannot control any of the cars with a pad. Obviously, the steering is by far the hardest part, but I find the subtle changes on the brakes and throttle very difficult on a pad too.

Great time too!

I have been playing with the pad settings; changing curves, sensitivity, deadzone, etc. The steering isn't too bad now. By far the biggest thing I struggle with is the throttle on the triggers. Once I stopped mashing those, and not necessarily using their full range, I managed to reduce the times the rear end kicked out and loss of control. Sadly, the game is pretty much unplayable on a gamepad if I turn the assists off! I might have another go later but I struggled to get through a quarter of the lap with them off!

Have you not set the types to be Optimal before you start the race, mate?

Er... no idea! They are blue and need a bit of warmth before they start gripping! :ROFLMAO:

7:33 seems a good time to me considering you are running with assists off.

7.25 with just the racing line added.

Tbh, the racing line can give too many false negatives. Like the corner at Aremberg quickly goes red when approaching at speed, yet the Dallara EXP can easily handle that in 6th gear with the foot to the floor. Likewise, several other corners I don't actually brake on, but momentarily ease off before hitting the gas once again.

It's probably not too far off what I'd be capable of on here. I can definitely push more, but not feeding in the throttle gently has caught me out several times. If I managed to crack 7.20, I'd be well chuffed. I wonder if I can make 6th gear really tall?

Chipped away some more time.

But again ran out of petrol on my second hot lap 😭

Is there a way of not starting in the pits and starting a 1/4 mile before the start line as I’m wasting a lot of fuel on the opening lap?

Yeah, that's a fair point... the racing line doesn't offer so much advantage after a few laps to get familiar with the circuit and handling.

Tried the new ClubSport v3 pedals just now at dinner.

These are much more adjustable than me previous CSL ones - but I wanted to try them out of the box in their default setup. One lap as above, managed to score a 7.16 straight away - and that was starting the car from standstill, not hurtling past the timing line from a previous lap.

The big difference? The brake is more controllable and much less on/off feel of the load-cell (which I actually like) - but its the throttle that's the most obvious change. It's fairly easy to get the arse-end of the EXP to stick out, but that snappy rear seems more placid than before. We all know about lift-off oversteer - but now its more ease-off oversteer and is more predictable and less harsh. One that regularly bit back was the right hander just prior to the Carousel where I had lost the back end of the Dallara after that long run up, or at best, had to wrestle it back under control. Now, it's way less twitchy.

So yep, impressed with the new pedals. Will keep them as-is for a while yet to get a good baseline of what feels right for me - before heading down that rabbit hole of tweaking various settings, springs and elastomers.

New pedal set are seeing the lap times tumbling down. Did an AI two-lap race - field of 22 cars with me sat at the back, cars equal or less than the Dallara 'spec'.

Had the driver ability set to 85-90% with all assists off and that now includes removing the ideal line. Managed to bag this on lap 2 - only missing on the pole position due to not have the legs on the final straight compared to the BMW up front. I narrowly claimed second place from the BMW behind due to the same issue. :)

Target for the Dallara and I now, is sub 7mins.

Assetto Corsa EVO receives a new update (v. 0.6) today that expands the simulation with new content and targeted improvements to driving, racing and technical foundations.

As the project keeps evolving together with the community, this update puts additional emphasis on the systems that most directly shape what happens behind the wheel. The update adds a group of six new cars — spanning GT race machinery and roadgoing icons — and introduces Sebring International Raceway, one of the most recognisable and demanding circuits in American motorsport.

Beyond new content, this new update represents a meaningful step forward for Assetto Corsa EVO, focusing on the systems that define driving quality, competitive racing, and overall simulation depth.

Features include a refined suspension modelling, more stable multiplayer collision behaviour, enhanced audio and official MoTeC telemetry support via an updated sharedmemory stack.

Usability has been improved with a redesigned car selection flow and a reworked controls settings page, and deeper refinements to AI, physics, gameplay and performance continue the project’s community driven evolution toward a robust, long-term racing platform.

Core Improvements

Enhanced Suspension Modelling: Assetto Corsa EVO 0.6 marks a significant step forward in suspension modelling, with improvements including multilink and strut systems, coilover direction, roll and pitch center calculations, bumpstop behaviour, and updated damper work. These changes enhance load transfer communication, mechanical realism, and overall vehicle response across the roster.

More Stable Multiplayer Collisions: Multiplayer racing receives focused attention through updated netcode timing and prediction logic. The aim is to deliver more stable and readable contacts during online sessions, supporting closer and more trustworthy wheel-to-wheel racing.

Audio: Improved Reverb and Car Identity: Audio enhancements in 0.6 include improved reverb behaviour, particularly in underpasses and enclosed areas, for a more spatially grounded soundscape. Selected cars also benefit from remade or refined sound sets, advanced multichannel management, and more distinctive audio identities.

Official MoTeC Telemetry Support: Version 0.6 updates the shared memory library, improving telemetry structure and quality for external tools and hardware integrations. This update introduces official MoTeC support, reinforcing EVO’s simulation and data-analysis capabilities for advanced users and content creators.

Usability, Performance, and Systems Progress: A revised car selection flow and a reworked controls settings page, now organised by input type, provide a more intuitive starting point for players. Additional work continues across AI behaviour, CPU performance optimisation, pit stops, penalties, weather systems, track limits, tyres, aero, setups, rendering, replay, and customisation.

Self-Hostable Game Servers: Following the stabilization of its core multiplayer infrastructure, Assetto Corsa EVO further expands its online offering through a layered approach designed to balance competition, freedom, and accessibility.

Alongside the official competitive experience of the Daily Racing Portal—with 24/7 ranked challenges engaging several thousand players in recent months—and the acevo-servers.com platform for browser-based server rental with worldwide availability, update 0.6 introduces a new option for players.

With the release of the dedicated game server executable via Steam Tools, users can now create and host their own servers using essential configuration features.

This final addition completes a cohesive multiplayer framework built to support different player profiles, delivering an increasingly precise and tailored online experience for competitive racing, organized communities, and casual sessions with friends.

Countach...... b**ch on wheels. Smashed it up on the 2nd corner at the 'Ring. :p

That Rennsport 911 is a handful too - feels very light at the front and will no doubt take a fair bit to learn.

Jumped into by fave Dallara Stradale EXP and got another 7.02 straight away. Overcooked a couple of places where I needed to ease off, so sub-7mins is definitely achievable for me.
