Dug this one out this evening to have a little go since the latest update, as well as AC Rally which I've just updated in that thread.

It seems to be running better. The handling is great. The graphics are great. It really is like ACC but with road cars. Dare I say it, I even drove the E46 M3 and had fun.

It's frustrating that it's so incomplete, but not because the devs are too slow or anything. It's because it's got so much potential and will hopefully see that potential lived out in time, but because everyone sees it being so incomplete they don't really want to play it yet. I'm quite sad that career mode has been dropped. It clearly had a lot of potential and was a fairly core part of the game, but I'm hoping it's a case of 'it's not the priority right now so if we cancel it, we can always re announce and implement it further down the road' as it's not going to be anywhere near as much fun freeroaming for no reason.

Yeah it's all about the free roam, not sure why they've released with anything but that and the ring in place, even if only a smaller area.

AC Evo is only £24 at the moment on Steam.
Under £18 on Loaded.com now too.

Been trying the MX-5 ND Global Cup car in full manual, in a single type/single lap race of the 'Ring. Really good fun. Span it a few times where I'm letting the clutch out too drastically on the downshifts and the rear end is light; but it's a very compliant car overall.

Cheated 'slightly' by selecting the tyres to be already optimal at race start. But apart from that, pretty much all assists are off - with stability control at a mere 5%. I might even switch that off completely.

Can we have a practice time set on the 'Ring with clear weather, midday and any assists declared?

Car to be the Dallara EXP (?) open top.

Open to anyone, but calling in the usual suspects. Off course, screenshot evidence of laptimes are required.... ;)

I am shite at the ring. I just dont know the track well enough. Ill see what I can do. Expect it to be measured in hours rather than minutes

Well, I've been trying to lap for the last 2 hours and it is too difficult on game pad. Not even managed a clean lap yet and the only semi clean lap I managed I skidded to a halt on a kerb and beached... had to restart the session.

Well, finally managed a clean lap - but I had all assists on except stability control. Not a great time, but it's a start.

Video of the lap - from a recording so it doesn't have the flippin' time or HUD display!

Well impressive that with a pad - I simply cannot control any of the cars with a pad. Obviously, the steering is by far the hardest part, but I find the subtle changes on the brakes and throttle very difficult on a pad too.

Great time too!

I have been playing with the pad settings; changing curves, sensitivity, deadzone, etc. The steering isn't too bad now. By far the biggest thing I struggle with is the throttle on the triggers. Once I stopped mashing those, and not necessarily using their full range, I managed to reduce the times the rear end kicked out and loss of control. Sadly, the game is pretty much unplayable on a gamepad if I turn the assists off! I might have another go later but I struggled to get through a quarter of the lap with them off!

Have you not set the types to be Optimal before you start the race, mate?

Er... no idea! They are blue and need a bit of warmth before they start gripping! :ROFLMAO:

7:33 seems a good time to me considering you are running with assists off.

7.25 with just the racing line added.

Tbh, the racing line can give too many false negatives. Like the corner at Aremberg quickly goes red when approaching at speed, yet the Dallara EXP can easily handle that in 6th gear with the foot to the floor. Likewise, several other corners I don't actually brake on, but momentarily ease off before hitting the gas once again.

It's probably not too far off what I'd be capable of on here. I can definitely push more, but not feeding in the throttle gently has caught me out several times. If I managed to crack 7.20, I'd be well chuffed. I wonder if I can make 6th gear really tall?
