Attemping boosted ph1

Trying to undo the nut on the driveshaft and its not budging one bit will I just need a big breaker bar and give it some or??

  Ph1 T
Will give it another go although my weight couldn't move it before :(..

When I was speaking to the guy who's fitting the ecu, wiring loom and mapping the car he asked about if I just want to run the omex or connect it up with standard aswell as I mentioned it cos I'd spoke to a few on here that said about doing it that way..

People's opinions? Run just the omex or tie it in with the standard?

It doesnt really make a big difference, just gives the advantage of stuff like immobiliser still working, wont actually effect how much power it makes or how it drives etc though.

  Ph1 T
Yeah think I will then as I'd still want immobiliser and other bits he said its not a problem either way

Postman delivered a few bits today

Got it all out, didn't realise how much of a tight squeeze it would be.. I'm dredding when I have to out the ph1 turbo engine back in :/ definately going to get a hand for that..

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
Yeah there really isn't much clearance.

Think I will put my turbo lump back with minus the aux setup as its so easy to fit the cup setup in the car anyway.

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
Have you got the Aircon delete on your ph1 chip? Will you be putting it back in by yourself like?

Cup setup on mine. Think danpl6 might lend me a hand, if not will be on my own like when I took it out as the mrs has no time off work for ages :(

  Ph1 T
I'd love a lass that was into cars and helped out where could lol

I'm going to chuck that cup setup on mine while I'm at it makes sense really. You ever had any problems getting the turbo engine back in with room

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
Mine only went in once, Mwm did it then though as it was them that first built it as a demo car. My only involvement first time round was mapping it. Clearance was tight but with two or three of them doing it all who are very used to putting engines in an out and with a ramp it went pretty easily I would imagine.

Just been thinking about the water cooling on the turbo and wondering where's the best place to get the feed from and return to? Also what piping to get normal rubber, silicone ect?

For low boost I wouldnt bother running the water side of it on a plain bearing turbo, oil alone cools them fairly well. Different on a rolling bearing one though of course.

Mine is a focus RS turbo, dont know what yours is as you havent ever told me the specs, Ive not decided if I will water cool it or not yet, probably but I might do it like my nova on a seperate circuit so as not to add strain to the cooling system.

Took mine off the heater matrix feed and return.

Taking the engine in and out is tight but the more you do, the easier it becomes. I must have had mine in and out at least 15 times during my build and will be taking it out again in the next few weeks. Takes me now about 2 hours to get it out and about 3 to get it back in by myself.

Been thinking of other bits and bobs i could do with getting while im doing all this.. Would it be worth getting uprated engine/gearbox mounts? ive got a polybushed dogbone mount at the min

also would like to freshen the look of the engine up what parts are easy/simple to remove that i could drop of to be powdercoated? or cant they?

Id go for solid mounts simply as i like the way they make the car feel.

As for engine bay, the gear box mounting piece (not the mount), cam cover and inlets could all be powder coated though a coat of silver vht will freshen them up cheaply. If you have already loose the dirty old carpety heat shield and replace it with some nimbus heat shield. Will make a fresh looking bay.

The mounts do look ten times better aswell

i suppose i could give them a coat of silver vht myself then see what it comes out like cant be too difficult,,

Took mine off the heater matrix feed and return.

If you get a set of samco hoses there is a join already in them between the two side of the heater matrix to allow it to function as a bypass (on the standard hose this is built into a solid looking rubber block in the middle of the hose that has holes built into it) which you can use as a flow and return for a fairly neat solution.

Same with forge hoses too. Very easy and straight forward.

Going back to clutches. Was talking to a mate the other day with a 400bhp evo 6 he said the clutch he used to have was a 6 paddle and he hated driving it on the road so changed it for an organic capable of over 400bhp, he says its ten times better driveability on the road just wondering is there any other options forr me than the 4/6 paddle?

also got the cup out of the garage erlier looks a right dump on drive so scrapman will be collecting next few days cant be arsed taking other bits off it.. Axels/stubs/doors/boot/brakes ect.....
