Attemping boosted ph1

  172 cup, Impreza P1
The clutch on an evo has a far bigger diameter so this may be possible but on a clio the clutch is only 215mm so to get the friction required for above 240 or so, a 4 or 6 paddle would be required.

5w-40 Fully Synthetic, or if you got deeper pockets go for a Ester based synthetic (Gulf Competition, Fuchs ProS, Motul 300v), not really required though. Id advise an oil cooler on a boosted setup for hard use.

I used Gulf Gear oil too i prefer to use the proper 75w-80, rather than the cheaper more commonly used 75w-90.

Bought it all from Opie oils, pretty reasonably priced as theres always an offer of some sort on (+ club discount)

Been grafting away on the car most of today starting to remove the engine just got to disconnect the fuses from fuse box.. then do the driveshafts!! which are been a right pain in the arse! Managed to snap the end of my 18inch snap on breaker bar trying to undo the friggin things :(.. Ended up so stressed tbh today felt like ive never stopped and still not got the thing out!!

Tbh im absolutely dreading putting the engine back in connecting everything back up ect seems so many little bits and bobs ive unpluged and disconnected just hoping it all goes to plan..

Also noticed today that my downpipe isnt going to match up to my exhaust what so ever stupid of me really for not checking when i first got the parts. Now would i be able to fit my down pipe to turbo end so its coming down under the car then take my straight through bit of exhaust of, take it to be cut to size i need and have the flange (bit where sits/connects upto downpipe) welded onto it? Thats only thing i can think of other than have a new downpipe made but i cant take the car anywhere so imagine that will be difficult...

Are you going low boost? I have a 2.25" down pipe for Garrett t25/28 turbo if you need one?

Make sure you take plenty of pics of everything when you're removing them. It helped me on the rebuild as I didn't do ine straight away after my conversion so things were a little cloudy.

I started taking pics until about half way through and my iphone just crashed and wouldnt turn back on :/

yeah going low boost.. id more than likely still be in the situation i am though now wouldnt i if i bought the one you have. still have to get my straight through exhaust piece cut down?

The drive shafts are doing my nut in aswell what did you use to get the off breaker bar/impact gun?

  172 cup, Impreza P1
I used an impact gun to get the driveshaft nuts off. Took some going the first time but no bother anytime after that.

What is your connection like from your down pipe to Decat/cat? Not sure what you mean.

Edit, just checked your pics from earlier on in your thread.

That looks like it is to connect up to a megane 225 link pipe which I have. Is it 2.5"?

Managed to sort the driveshaft nuts towed it to the local garage did them easy..

right from the decat (centre of the car) it joins onto a straight bit that goes upto the manifold. Just undid the straight piece that will be going onto the turbo downpipe and thats 2.25 inch but my turbo downpipe is 2.5inch take it thats another big problem i have :(

could i get my exhaust pipe modified to fit the 2.5" downpipe? as im going to need to get that straight piece cut anyway..

I was thinking fit the downpipe turbo end then see where it comes to and line my exhaust upto it mark where it needs to be and take to fabricators?

did you use a discount code?

Yeah i run a 13 row mocal, bit of a squeeze in the bay but seems to do its job fine :)

Yeah used the code paid for saturday delivery though as im hoping to get the car running tuesday/wednesday so need the stuff asap..

You know when you fired yours up for the first time after the refit is there a procedure i should follow or...

Space was an issue for me too so opted for a 200mm mocal laminova cooler so using coolant rather than air to cool the oil. Fitted it to the bottom rad hose and takes up very little space so was ideal for this conversion. Also less of a risk of something puncturing the cooler and dropping your oil everywhere.

I would, yes. But mine was to be used on track and I didn't want to worry all the time about oil temps. A road car may be different but I still probably would.

When i removed the engine from the cup the other day i come to remove the sump as im fitting it to my engine and i removed the 20? bolts around the sump but theres 4 that are deep inside and the socket wont go inside to get onto them any ideas? what have people done to get them out

  Ph1 T
yeah ive removed all the ones around the sump and the 4 bigger ones not sure if needed to but did theres just 4 of the smaller ones i cant get.

I have a 1/4" ratchet its just the bit i cant get in the hole if you know which ones i mean.. can you get a deep E8 socket? ive got alot of deep sockets but i wouldnt be able to use any of them would i as there different to normal bolts or would i?

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
1/4 inch drive e8 on an extension should be all you need.
Some sockets are thinner profile than others though, if yours is too thick walled just turn it down with a bench grinder (assuming you don't have a lathe)

  182/RS2/ Turbo/Mk1
No sump on mine at all at the moment, not decided what fasteners to use yet TBH, if I buy new ones though rather than re-use the old ones then I will get capheads instead.
