Attemping boosted ph1

Will rotating the tb not sort that? Doesn't have to go on that way up.

I tried that and I think it would of worked if I re drilled holes to mount it. Returned it to standard manifold now as didn't have the tools to re drill and thread for it to be moved

Been working on the car from about dinner up until now got a few bits done and spent a lot of time doing stuff I shouldn't of had too my own fault though...

Fitted new downpipe (thanks cupman29)
Fitted cup alternator aircon delete kit
Fitted then removed custom manifold :/
Had gearbox off checked clutch
Fitted new Megane 225 injectors

Think that's about it few pics

We had both had enough by 11 :)

Plans for tomorrow:

Somehow get hold of a deep E8 socket to remove cup sump and fit it on my engine.

Fit intercooler
Get some vht paint and do a few bits, manifold,TB,engine mount just tidy it up abit
Basically get everything done and ready for the engine going back in Monday :)

Very good progress mate and glad the down pipe worked out. :approve:

I'm hoping length wise my straight pipe meets upto it suppose can always pull the exhaust back a touch if short..

Can't wait to actually get the engine back in :)

Ill be shi@ting myself turning it over first time lol ill need some advice on that Aswell when it comes to it..

Pissed off I paid opie oils £13 for sat delivery and it was a no show

Few questions regarding the turbo now

The pipe coming off the actuator does that connect up with the hose of the outlet?

Also the inlet and outlet for the water feed do I need to block them up or will they be fine as is

  172 cup, Impreza P1
Needs to connect to the boost side of the turbo or inlet mani.

If you're not using the water feeds then I would block up but personally for what's it's worth, I would just connect up the feed and return to the heater matrix lines. Very easy to do.

It's just getting the fittings to do it before it's in for mapping on Wednesday with everywhere been closed Tuesday..

Ideally I do want to do it as its there so may Aswell

I have two 1/4" bsp to 1/2" hose tails that would have done the job if I'd known could have put them in with the down pipe.

Leave the inlet off. Fit engine without it. Then sort out fitting the tb to it at your leisure away from the engine.

Also id highly advise you make sure your studs and nuts are good on the turbo to manifold. Mine have rattled loost a few times.

Ill be drilling the studs and wire locking it next time the engine is out (way to much hassle now), wish id done it beforehand, you may want to do the same.

Yeah that'd be great if you could mate also do you know what size the connections are that go onto the turbo?

Turbo connections are 1/4" bsp or npt but either will fit with some plumbers tape.

The water lines are 25mm or 1" off the heater matrix and 13mm or 1/2" to the turbo so you'll need a 1" to 1/2" unequal tee.

Sound now time to try and find somewhere local that will sell them..

List of stuff to get:

1/4" turbo water connection
2x 1" to 1/2" reducer tee
E8 deep socket
Jubilee clips for pipe work
Some pipe for the water feed and return and some for oil return

Need to get that lot tomorrow

Tbh I would put the fittings and pipes onto the turbo so they are there ready and then not cut into your heater hoses yet, add the water cooling later on if you are on a tight schedule. It won't make any difference for mapping it.

More wise words. You don't want another potential leak point on such a tight schedule.

Right ill do that then so connect upto turbo and just leave the pipes free until I get round to connecting to heater matrix pipes...

I'm going to fit the intercooler this afternoon take it that's simply fit it on then put bumper up against it to make sure it all fits okay

Measure the ports on my turbo where the water feed connections go and it's 1/2" inside to inside are you running same turbo as me mate

Remember the size is the internal diameter of the fitting so the od of the 1/4” fitting will be around 13mm. Look up a chart of imperial fittings on the net and you see the major and minor thread diameters for each.

Will try and get the bits tomorrow but if I can't get them the turbo will still run 100% fine until they arrive won't it

  R5 gtt, R27 F1 team
Yes it will, journal bearing turbo's don't require water cooling that much because there's enough cooling by the oil.

  Ph1 T
Okay going to get the piping for my oil return tomorrow what's best pipe to use for that needs to be 15mm inside diameter
