You need to come to pre CSS training (RDR camping) with us next year
Just worked really stupid hours last week to make sure I wasn't snowed under with paperwork when I came in to the office this morning. Was at home working until 2.30AM on the Friday morning and was up again at 7am for CSS. The things I do, aye.

No Mike's (Stokie4ker) car stopped working and had to taken home by the AA, he came off track after hammering it round, turned it off, when he turned it back on it went mental and was revving all weird, then it wouldn't turn over at all.

I reckon it probably was, but no lasting scars to the front bumper.

My go pro literally ran out of battery after that happened.

Does anyone know who owned the Liquid Yellow 197 that was parked down near the fairground ride?

I believe it had red wing mirrors?

@Sunglasses_Ron @Dan Do you have any numbers on how many attended in total?

Whats the thinking with the trackday, success? If so, where next year?!? ha
There was over 270+ food vouchers redeemed which gives you a rough idea of how many people were on site!

Next year: We'll have a review as a team about what went well/ what needs improving and take a view.

Forgot to say thanks to @The Boosh! - Luke (proper nice guy and stunning girlfriend) for letting me have a sit in the new Trophy. Am thinking about buying one so was great to see one in the flesh. It ended up raining just as I got in so @TimR26 and me sat in there for ten minutes. It really did feel a great place to be, the seats were incredibly comfy and supportive, nice steering wheel and a lovely matt white paintjob. Felt it really needed some nice Brembos to finish it off though.

I said to Brian last night: All the things to do from css14 (quaser, segways, zorbs, climbing frame, bbq, etc but the track time from this year and everything from the evening and camping. The band was a very nice touch doing varied music and the marque was good also.

So basically last years day events and this year's evening events plus track time. I understand this will be hard and expensive but that would be the best idea IMO.

Can't help but echo everyone's comments, the range of activities was great (karting, track, bbq, tent, music etc) & the camping/evening turnout eclipsed other CS Saturdays so a big thanks to the admin team (great value too @ £20 for 3 days). Gutted I didn't turn up in a Clio, but huge thanks to those who took me out as a passenger:

  • The straights were very economical in @JP83 's DCI, but the braking & corner speed of the wan-li-triangle-ling-longs was pleasantly surprising. Seems to have learnt to be very smooth & precise with all of 86 BHP, reckon you're going to be annoyingly quick at CSS '23 when you eventually finish your 172...
  • @Pacman. 's driving style was hilarious, an exact replica of his personality & I really don't know why I expected anything different  BTCC spec maximum attack was a right laugh, spent more time on two wheels hopping over kerbs than on four!
  • On-track highlight for me was an epic time in the wet with @Bunta !!! A couple of laps getting a bit of heat into the tyres & we had the track virtually to ourselves exploring the limit and . Enjoyable & informative chat with you & your father about driving styles for the MR2.

Gutted the camera ran out before it rained but im glad you liked it! Its quite a lively car in the wet the little b*****d!:eek:penmouth:

I suppose the danger when doing track time is that it becomes just about track time and nothing else. I'd of liked to have stayed for the evening but think I'm too old, I was shagged after a morning in the Rallye.

Was there any traders in attendance? I'd have thought some might have turned out with 250 plus Clio fanatics in attendance.

I'm pretty sure you're not too old for our evening entertainment and camping!

Hopefully you'll decide to camp next year

Every one of our traders were contacted about attending. But to be fair to them most supplied some amazing raffle prizes.

We will try and get some more along next year.

We were also supposed to have dent man but he let us down at the last minute.

I think the fact I was only an hour away was a big draw for me to go home. Looking forward to see the plans for next year! Another track day based event would get my vote.

I think we should go with the exact same formula next year, the thing with car shows is not everyone is interested in the same things, so having a show and shine, a trackday, evening entertainment and camping for those of us that need to sleep off a few beers, means they'll be something for everyone, some people are into immaculate cars to drool over, some people like hammering around a track, some people have just come to hang out and have a good piss up with mates they talk to online everyday but only see once a year.

Hiring a place like Blyton means the people that just want a day out can come to look at the cars, watch them on track but there's also other stuff to do for them or their kids like a fairground, go-karting and race simulators, then when the track action ends they can go home happy that they've had a good day, I understand not everyone wants to get pissed in a field.

Also with it being a trackday it means it attracts more members that might not be that arsed about looking a hundred shiny Clios and are generally not interested in traditional cars shows, but just want to hoon about in their car, I met blokes that purely came because the club was having a trackday and were pleasantly surprised there was a big party afterwards.

Others (like me) just want to get trollied with their mates in a field.

So like I said, I think there was something for everyone and next years should be exactly the same, because this years was amazing!

Dave has pretty much nailed it there IMO! There was something for everyone. I'd have liked to see some trader stalls and stuff, but besides that, the whole weekend was brilliant.

On another note, from what I saw on the AM session anyway, the standard of driving from everyone on track was superb! Everyone I came across always let the faster car(s) through and kept the session running smoothly.

Please please please don't change the format. I like trackdays and drinking - I was catered for and had an epic weekend. If there was no trackday I wouldn't have made the trip.

I think the location was spot on as well, fair travel time for everyone on the whole (obviously there are always exceptions)

PM session was just as good. People could not help themselves to get out of your way if you were on one ..

Couldnt agree more. Driving standards were brilliant.

@TheEvilGiraffe didn't you have concerns about what the standard of driving would be like?

It sounds like I missed a really good event. Hopefully I can make it next year, this year it fell bang on in the middle of my two weeks off I had where I am in sunny Wales

Looked to be a great turnout though. Good effort to everyone who helped organise :)

Dave hit the nail on the head.

It Would've taken some mulling over from me if it was purely a car show.

The option of track time made all the difference, as tbh, I'm very much over looking at parked cars, (There were lovely cars dotted around, don't get me wrong), it was so much better getting to see the cars in action and have the chance to get out myself.

As said as well, it'd have been nice to see more traders... Although it's probably a good thing they weren't there as I shouldn't be spending money lol

But the combination of show and shine, track time, racecars and a piss up is exactly what was needed to turn this from a forum to a club imo.

Couldnt agree more. Driving standards were brilliant.

Clio owners for ya :)
