Hi all, after discussing cleanning cars at work.. as you do.. lol.. One of the other guys on site buts in & claims he's getting his beemer de-swirled & given a coating that should keep swirls away for at least 5 years through halfords valet team that he claims are from autoglym, he reckons this service is £350 & will be far better than my new g220 & megy products.. so the debate goes on.. but before i keep saying he's talking b****cks could some one clear up what this autoglym life shine thing is or if it even exsists pls?

  Whichever has fuel
It exists.

Its shite.

I used to sell that and 'supaguard' and its all a complete load of crap. In fact you can buy the stuff off ebay for about £10.

Tell the bloke its great value, then after he's forked out the £350, show him my reply.

Thanks for that mate, i will tell him to go ahead with it then :approve:, then forward him an email link lol, he's a t**t so cant think of any one who deserves it more!

How can they charge £350 for it though, thats bloody day light roberey? getting a car de-swirl'd properly is not far from £200 so where does the other £150 go:S

This is a load of rubbish, even if swirls are 100% removed and topped with the best products known to man, there is no way no swirls won't be inflicted in 5 years unless it is never driven and kept in an incubator (cough Rich! ;))

My Nan had this service done on her then new Polo, a year later and it looks like s**t, until I sort it out for her. As far as I am aware there is zero polishing involved so no swirls will be removed, unless this is an extra service your workmate is paying for.

These types of products are a TOTAL rip-off to the customer. When I worked at a garage we charged £250 to customers for DiamondBrite which is a similar sort of thing to the Autoglym Lifeshine, cost us £39.99 for the pack including the interior spray and the take home package for the customer...and took about 2 hours to finish and 45 minutes of that is waiting for the base coat to cure. 20% of this went straight to the service department, the rest to my boss. It is a massive money maker basically, in the car industry with dwindling profits it is a good sell to make something lucrative with very little work involved.

So in a nutshell: you're mate is talking rubbish and will be begging for you to polish his car in a year, let alone 5!

The AG Life shine goes for peanuts on ebay. Same as most of these long life sealants take any durability claims with a pinch of salt.

One thing I can say is it will not stop swirls. Bad washing will swirl paint lifeshine or no lifeshine.

Edit - Tom less of the cheek.

Ha only kidding big boy! Well sort of!

Print this thread off and stick it to the windscreen of his Beemer once he has forked out for it and watch his smile evaporate!

Also forgot to add, sometimes in the dealership we didn't even bother polishing the paint before applying the Diamond Brite further reducing the durability - but this was following the directions of the DB rep so shows they don't really understand how the system works...not great!

Yep. Pne of the mechanics got his ollllllllllllld Saab 900 done which hadn't even been cleaned properly then Diamond Brite over the top, and was surprised when it did absolutely sweet FA.

It is scarier as my boss had been valeting for about 17 years at the time, over 20 now and works for a large Saab dealership! :S
