Its hard to say until the rules are finalised but i think the dash needs to be fully working. Other than that its a fairly standard car so its probably nearly there for competing in the series.

Is there any chance of someone taking charge here and creating a bullet point set of rules away from the open public to "debate" on? 39 pages of joshing mixed with actual decent thread content is too much for my enthusiasm to trawl through and i'm keen to do this myself (it may even save my 172 from its pending sale).

A draft set of regs will be posted as soon as they are ready. Tony and Co are on with it. Patience is a virtue. :)

Sorry Mick

I try to answer questions the best I can atm, some I've just chucked in to stop pointless speculation. It's not that easy as you would have thought.

TARC general regs are available to see on their website. Tony's doing a grand job, considering he's got a day job too. It's still very early days, I'm more eager than anyone but know it's going to take a bit of time.

I didn't realise you'd undertaken this task Tony. Sorting things out and taking charge of any situation is never easy and its often a thankless task. Obviously I haven't read all 39 pages but as someone who is seriously interested in this I wanted to ask if anyone had taken this on rather than it become a non-starter so i'll go back to my corner and be quiet.

Never under estimate the predictability of stupidity.

Stoopid is as stoopid does etc.

Can't wait to get pops and bangs remap back on mine.. All those flames out the exhaust will hopefully give me the edge..

This might seem like a silly question but I've ripped the handbrake out my car and chucked everything bar the lever.. Do I have to run a standard handbrake or not?

Yes had to in the tintops, so assume this will be the case.

Although they never checked it was working! Lol

As we drive in this FT series my enthusiasm has waned slightly, had I not had 2 starts to my Mallory race a top 5 was possible...then the 2nd driver starts at the back for the 2nd race. As I said to SV and TH on the day not a biggie as we're not top 3 contenders but this won't be the case (we hope) late next year. If the slowest driver to qualify starts the 2nd race where their q time puts them amongst the 2nd race starters then fine. Does mean for long circuits the first driver has to get on it on th first out lap, then 3 hot laps then in and swap drivers. We can change drivers in under 40 secs with a chat...will forgo the chat and get it below 30secs. It's tight for the 2nd driver to qualify but not impossible. Though any red flags forget it. You may have to drive as a one driver team or the 2nd driver should start from the back as not qualified. Not completed 3laps.

As for cheating, would I to get to the front of the class ? No I wouldn't , nor do i think any of the prospective CS drivers in this new class would. Got to trust some at their word or it's unworkable without great expense with alot of time involved for all.
Don't be fooled by someone getting away from the std cars in through and out of any corners...any one can drive in a straight line with their foot hard down. We have probably a greater power to weight than James but he's 2 secs quicker round Mallory. As discussing with Sam my entry to exit speeds are higher..she doesn't reach the same top speeds on the straights either because of it. Be the same for the drivers in this new class. Be prepared to get it handed to you from someone in the same car etc. Be realistic and enjoy as Sam and I do. It's a great feeling starting a race...driving and finishing.

I can only see a CS-series being a quick way to make some big bills.

Some of the weapons on here can barely make it around a roundabout without trying to be a hero about it, give them 1 lap of Brands (or Lydden for that matter) and you can bet good money there'll be at least 3 cars shiny-side down in the kitty litter.

Thats why, out of all the heros on here, there will only be about 5 that actually make it to the grid.
Its a big step up from a trackday, plus this isn't just for CS, don't forget that.
Once I've got it sorted, it wil go public, so could get all sorts coming in.
Anybody tgat tbinks they can clown shoe around have got a nasty shock coming.

Oh and don't get in my way, because you can see what happens.

Pete makes some good points I think regarding standard cars vs standard cars performance wise and just enjoying it as driver ability is where it really is in a series like this. I myself am not a consistent driver and I need to practise as well as inflate the ballsack some after watching the top three crackheads run riot around Mallory (you know who you are... Ashton & "T-Bone H" were inspiring to watch) that's for sure! There will have to be a fair bit of trust especially IMO regarding peoples engines and cam timing but anyone seriously considering entering this series thinking they can do so for say for example £3k will get them a car and running are mistaken.

I guess we'll see who's serious when it comes to handing over the pennies for entry fee's - Until them i'm going to annoy the hell out of Tony/Jaye with my questions and use the Bluebook to build it and take it to some track days to fettle with.

I had my first race in the French Trophy at Mallory, and am definitely interested in the proposed series.

Couldn't agree more with what Pete said above. It's all about having fun with what you've got. My car is basically running to the new regs aside from the coilovers currently fitted, and I still had a great day racing. I knew that neither the car or myself were capable of running anywhere near the front, but I didn't get lapped or feel like a mobile chicane, so there is clearly room for everyone. Despite being mugged by Pete at the chicane it's all a learning process, and is part of the fun.

I have no issues with reverting to more basic suspension, as a friend of mine tracks his 182 on renault shocks/eibach springs and if anything it is more entertaining to drive than mine. I don't mind going a bit slower if I can have more fun doing it, and also have a few other people doing the same to tussle with!

Mallory was my first ever meeting, having only done some trackdays a few years ago, and the guys running in the championship couldn't have been more welcoming. If there's any assistance I can offer Tony I'd be happy to get involved.

Tony.... I've been paying attention to the initial proposed rules etc and have had one thought going round. If people are limited to standard suspension, wouldn't this cause perhaps excessive tyre wear which in turn would result in extra cost in the long run?? We ran my road car round the track last year with the dunlops on and although it was entertaining cocking a wheel on every corner, it wasn't great for graining and wear.

Is there something to be said about off-the-shelf suspension kits?? We only paid about £650 for ours and it's done us pretty well so far!

  WRX
I've done three trackdays on mine and there's still more than half the tread left. Only one that's suffered is NSF because Gerards lol. By that I reckon, I could maybe get away with almost a season on maybe 6 or 7 tyres at most. It's also £650 initial outlay and they are capable on track with the proposed setup.
