I've just seen this on ebay. I was thinking about that in a used elise s2 chassis, with some engine work.... Would be a good project and a nice track car... How easy would it be to slot it in?

You can net 240bhp with very little work and there are installation kits for the elise's.

cant help but notice there is still 5 days to go on it, so will probably end up around the 2k mark!

i like the sellers use of the words 'massive torque', cant say that vtec engines are known for thier massive amounts of torque!!

Well, because they are square motors with a generous R/S ratio you wont get the peak torque figures you will off more agricultural engines, but they sure as hell will hold a flat torque curve for ages.

Well the seller doesnt know anything about the engine - "The V-Tech point comes in at 6,500rpm" - More like 5800 rpm!!!

Best thing to do is speak to Maidstone Sportscars - they specialise in the K20/a transplants for the Elise and can tell you exactly what you need. If you go to their website I think they list everything needed.

That engine is just a std UK K20 - the engine of choice is the K20a [JDM] and offers a LSD plus more power as std [20bhp].

But.... please factor into the cost a custom 4-2-1 mani and exhaust system, and many hours of map work needed after.

Personally I would spend £7-£10k and get Horizon motorsport/Blink/Maidstones to source the parts and do all the work.... Its a big hassle to do yourself and can cost as much as paying someone else to do it. Plus you get a full warranty.

Spoon manifolds,b pipe and muffler, Gruppe M and K-pro!

on another note, a friend of a friend has the type R conversion in his Elise, apperently its 'rapid'!

also SWAT speed have just done a conversion kit for the Citroen Saxo, which involves a space frame design, which mounts a Honda unit in the BACK of the car. Looks good!

DC5 engine is the same as that of the EP3 JDM civic. So 218Bhp std. My mates dc5 is now running 242.7bhp and over 170ft/lb.

being easy and cheap are 2 different things.
