Best Time of Year to Buy?

Car  Add me 2 ur PS3 - Lylak
Lo all,

I'm in the market for a Ph2 Clio 172 FF and I've noticed prices slowly falling over the past few months. There are some going for around £4k on Autotrader!

Is Winter the best season to buy a Clio 172? How much can you realistically haggle off the asking price as you get a lot of kit for the price. Xenons, half leather / alacantra seats, A/C, ESP, 170bhp etc...

Also, I can't reply to any posts in the For Sale section, do I have to join ClioSport to do so?

xmas is the best time to buy anything as most folk are brassic!

Ayet, Chirstmas is the best time to buy. Sayin that it's a buyers market for 172's just now.

All the cup owners wanna sell up before winter ;)

Need to join up before you can reply.

Yeah, Cups seem to be on the cheaper side of the prices but they are stripped out compared to the Full Fat. I won't say too much for fear of opening a can of worms. :p

This time of the year is generally a nightmare to sell a car, it's great if your looking though.

How much would you expect to pay to get a 172 Clio FF completely standard on a 02 / 52 reg with about 40k miles on at this time of year?

^ ^ DEFINITELY!

Think about it?

a) dealers have forecourts full of cars that will all be effectively one year older in a week or two

b) many private sellers are desperate for cash cos they've just put 2K on their credit card in M&S, Next and Toys R Us!

I bought a car at auction on 23rd December a few years ago - place was empty and I saved over a grand on the following 'January' Parkers Price

I bought another car in January when it was snowing - dealer was empty, salesman was shivering & drinking soup - stickered at £8995, book was £9250 dealer, private £8300, paid 8K dead

It all seems relative then, coz as you buy a car for a good price in winter, your going to have to sell you own car for an equally poor price

Pay a fair price & get a 'good' car with history thats been looked after.

By a bad cheap one & you will need very deep pockets if it goes wrong.
