Bigger engine.

  172 and vw passat
hi,

I currently have a 1.2 16v clio and was woundering would it be worth getting a 1.6 engine from another clio and droping it in rather than buying one, as i was planning on keeping my 1.2 for a year and going bigger.

but i have bought modifications for my 1.2 e.g. tidy rep side skirts and front and back valances. and was planning on getting them fitted soon.

If i did upgrade the engine, ofcourse i would have to tell the insurance company, but will they put it so it will cost more to insure rather than just buying a 1.6 standerd?

basicly droping a 1.6 engine in cost more to insure OR
buying a 1.6 clio?

cheers for the help if u understood :p

Sell it and buy another car.

Yep.

You'll pay way more than the price to sell up and change car in doing the engine transplant.

Get the valances fitted to the 1.6... or if you can insure one, sell the lot and get a 172.

And thats the wait you'll have to do then i'm afriad, theres no cheap and easy shortcut unfortunately :(.

Could try another car in the middleground until a 172 becomes affordable?
