BMC CDA Now Fitted

  Clio 190bhp Hybrid

After taking 3 hours to fit and a lot of messing withing trying to move the battery a little to make extra space the CDA is now fitted.

Definately worth the money and much better than the K&N than my car came fitted with. RR proved 148 at the flywheel which I thought was quite good considering my 16 valver has done 65K and only has a Magnex cat back system in addition to the BMC filter.

Not sure if a ram scoop will make it even better. Will have to see what the Nick Hill item is like. Does this not promote water entry into the filter?

been thinking about this. Where did you buy yours from and at what cost?

I wouldnt be too concerned about the water problem, it would take a very big puddle and some good wind to get a noticable amount of water up the pipe.

Place I got the Kit from have been liaising with BMC, both the importer and in Italy. The "kit" available for the clio 1.8 16v is not really a kit as an adaptor is reqd to fit to the throttle body. It is not plug and play at all. I sent drawings and photocopies of the throttle body plate and they fabricated a new one with a mouth, worked out the bend of silicone hose reqd and got the CDA. Adaptor they have made provides enough area for the SFS silicone hose to attach and the hose just had to be cut down to size. CDA would not fit downwards in the engine bay so is fitted going backwards. Just enough room.

The people I was dealing with specialise in Fiat tuning but were interested and happy to sort this out for me. They will be looking at getting a kit together to supply now they have used my car as a test case and will provide the CDA, SFS hose and throttle body mounting for somewhere between 200 and 250 quid. They also said they are more than happy to help us as a club and can provide Red Dot and other products at discount.

Will be at the Leicester meet if any1 wants to have a look. Box the CDA came in shows one fitted to a 172.

ok I will see you at leic meet

thats the price I have been quoted before (pretty much the same as the viper).

Look forward to see the car

I was gonna go for the Viper but Pipercross say it wont go in the 16v. Not sure why as they do one for the RSi 8v. CDA looks a much better kit anyway and I think the price is reasonable due to the quality, metal fabricated adaptor that would be needed and top quality silicone hose. Ive got the chaps number so you all can contact him if you want one. Found this kit to be the only one possible to do the correct job. Sound also seems quieter than the K&N which is probably due to the filter being enclosed.

They did take pics of the kit installed and I am waiting for them to send me them to put on here.

To try and explain, when I removed my K&N there is a metal plate seperated by a rubber template/gasket that fits on the throttle body. Inlet of this is egg shaped. They made this egg shape into a protruding piece of metal where it attached to the metal plate and this is where the silicone hose fixes to with a jubilee cl;ip to secure it. Hose was angles at 90 degrees but think this needs to me nearer 80 and the CDA then fits firing back towards the engine coolant container, slightly downwards. Inlet pipe then fires down towards the drive shafts.

Did try mounting the CDA facing downwards but not much room and it is tight getting the silicone hose to meet that direction due to the lack of space. Had to push my battery forward towards the headlight by a little to free up space for the CDA. Mine was the first kit they had tried and when happy I believe they will make available the kit for any1 to fit once any difficulties have been ironed out.
