Re: The Black clio Project, From Day 1.

UPDATE 15/06/10

Havnt upated in a while, but after ISTS i went on the hunt for some seats, but i couldnt afford the buckets i wanted, so i found a set of renaultsport 172 seats for £80, not the best but they will do until i find a good set of buckets.

Also as ive removed my rear seats etc, the car didnt sit right and i had the coilies as low as they could go, so i decided to get a set of custom 90mm springs for the rear made up :)

UPDATE 14/09/10

I've being rather lazy lately and not updated this thread.

Well the end of last month it was MOt time, so old lights on, Cat back on etc. Passed the MOT but The lamba sensor was pretty much past it, as it was a universal one from when i had my decat made up. So I bought a proper one, non of this universal crap.

IMG_0126.webp

Then when i came to fit it to the decat it would just not fit. On closer inspection, where the lamba sensor hole was, there wasa ton of weld all over the bottom of the thread, as the tip of the new sensor was slighty wider, this meant alot of filing and retapping the hole was in order, Best bit of kit i have bought would be a nice new tap and die set.

Freshly tapped thread

IMG_0128.webp

Nice new sensor fitted, what an improvment a decent sensor can make :)

IMG_0129.webp

while i was doing this i need to replace my engine mount aswell, so i did that too, Also my brakcet for my induction kit had broke a while ago, so matty made up a ncie new one for me! Nice one!!!

SDC11016.webp

also had some tints done, all round and a sunstrip

SDC11017.webp

SDC11019.webp

SDC11018.webp

At pistonheads show i decided to buy a snap off boss kit.

SDC11020.webp

Thats it Really.

More plans are in the pipe line, Car is coming off the road at the end of this month or the next.
New engine should be fitted for next year and hopefully some bodywork!
Interior is gonna be freshened up abit aswell!

So i shall be ripping it apart soon for the winter change :)

Re: The Black clio Project, From Day 1.

Update! 21/10/10

Right then, The Clio is now off the road for winter, and I've picked up a nice run around.

The Car is going through a few changes, Mainly engine wise, as i new engine shall be replacing the 1.6 as i need boost! Also I'm gonna get a few bits of bodywork done aswell to freshen it up as i feel the bodywork is not too good for being 11 years old. The interior is gonna be freshened up abit aswell, maybe new seats, and might change the flocking, Plus a few other goodies.

Anyway. So far Ive stripped the rear interior out as it needs repairing, or may change it.

SDC11061.webp

Then I stripped the rear of the car down.

SDC11063.webp

SDC11065.webp

Then Test fitted the bumper ive smoothed.

SDC11070.webp

SDC11067.webp

SDC11068.webp

SDC11073.webp

All thats left to do is get rid of the hole for the light and relocate. Also ive started to make a new numberplate holder for the rear aswell.

Then I put the wheels back on and rolled her back onto the other drive, so this is her current state.

SDC11076.webp

More updates soon :)

UPDATE! 27/10/10

Started stripping the front down :)

Bumper off
SDC11078.webp

Wing off
SDC11079.webp

Other wing off
SDC11082.webp

The front is pretty solid, no rust apart from a small bit of surface rust on the sill. But will sort that out!
Gonna give it a quick going over and paint it to protect it aswell.

Some goodies shall be coming sunday, so keep watching!

Currently this is now update, hopefully some progress shall be made in a few weeks.

Cheers

Re: The Black clio Project, From Day 1.

Big load of effort there. I liked the BBS wheels!

Re: The Black clio Project, From Day 1.

Few dodgey decisions in my opinion but some good ones too. A lot of effort and you seem pretty handy, good work mate.

Re: The Black clio Project, From Day 1.

remember this from cc... saw it at fcs too, very nice :)

not entirely sure on the tints and sun strip though

Re: The Black clio Project, From Day 1.

Good Effort! Have to agree, the BBS wheels were sweet. Love the interior.

Re: The Black clio Project, From Day 1.

sorry if i missed it but how come you didnt put the bbs on??

i like this project though

Well after about 4 weeks i have my wheels back after them been redone 3 times as the quality of service was shockingly poor. It took the company ages to try and do a proper job, the centre rings and caps, were destoryed by them, Im sure i have a photo somewhere of the damage they did, I also had to get them bored out, so in the end i just put them up for sale and got some money back, wish i had kept them at the time now, But new wheels shall be going on next year i think :)

Wow, some real effort gone into this! Looks like a good quality of work.

Not a big fan of some of the mods, mainly the tints. But other than that it looks very tidy :)

Re: The Black clio Project, From Day 1.

Loving the plans for it! what company did you go to get the custom springs buddy?

Re: The Black clio Project, From Day 1.

Nice little build mate. Just read the first post in it's entirety and all the way through as I saw more parts getting flocked I was just thinking how good it will look with sports seats, and i thought they'd never appear but they did :). win.
