brake calipers

Car  clio mk3 16v
i am currently trying to remove my brake calipers so i can paint them. i drive a MK3 clio. i have got the bolts off with an 18mm socket but there are two allen bolts on the back. does any one know what size these are. an 8mm allen key is too small whereas a 9mm is too big.

please help asap

You sure you need an allen key ? On mine iirc its 2 18mm bolts for the whole caliper and you need a 13 and 17mm spanner to separate the caliper and the brake pad mounting brackets . Personally i'd paint them off the car as it's easier .

Just paint them while they're on the car. Hammerite smooth is good, get a 1/2 inch brush too & you'll be fine. You may need a small brush for the hard to get to parts though.

you are looking at the wrong bolts! the two bolts you are trying to undo are actually triangle shaped and hold the front part of the caliper on, i sprayed mine i removed the caliper 2x 13mms and hold the back with a 17, and then unbolt the caliper bracket with i think a 19

^^^ Thats what i thought a 13mm and 17mm spanner , wasn't sure if it was an 18mm or not though .
